If you like the Carlyle, check out the Oak Street - I saw that in the store and it looked better in person than the pictures.

Are you part of the brotherhood? I have winter boots that I wear everyday but I can see myself purchasing the long branch. The carlyle is one sexy shoe, AE did someothing good with going sleek and not old man grandpa style

Brotherhood?  WTH is that?  Like a distant relative of Altair or Ezio Auditore where I can relive their memories via the Animus?

The enlightened kind. nod[1].gif

I'm holding out purchasing any other shoe until another sale comes about. Anyone know when the next sale will be?

the SAs tease you about buying seconds? Wow. Why do you still shop there?

I was wondering if someone would ask me that.  Sometimes I honestly don't know - after I bought FOUR fricken pairs of firsts in like a month and a half from them, they kind of knocked that s**t off for a while but started it last week when I stopped by the store.  I am having two pairs brought into the store from the clearance sale - asked for them like the last week of Jan, was told they would be arriving first week of March.  I could easily get them from shoebank in under a week - they are both sort of "bad weather" shoes with lug soles for this kind of weather - if they don't come by March I probably won't even use them much.  But I can't even imagine what would happen if I did that.  Last year I ordered a Black McTavish into the store - it took 5 weeks.  After like 2.5 weeks, I was just so frustrated since I really needed a sort of business/casual pair, like not super fancy or anything, to just sort of get by, I got them from shoebank.  Holy mother of god did I screw up telling them to return the pair when it came in - it was like I was benedict Arnold or something.  How dare I even show my face around?  Ok, I'm done.  sorry for that.

Either this is the world's worst AE store or you're the world's worst customer... :fistbump:

different person, but the women at the Boston store were rude to me the entire time. My girlfriend even said something. I was wearing shell dundees, so I am sure I looked like a potential customer (not that it should matter).

however, the store near Farragut in DC was incredibly friendly every time I went there.

Sometimes SAs develop and attitude of superiority at high end stores. Can't take it personally

I didn't realize there was more than one.  Newbury St store.  Then again, that street has a lot of "meh" SAs.  I have been impressed by Shoebank and other AE stores, so maybe it was just a bad day.

I'm new here, and also to AE. I went into the Chicago Loop store, and Brittany took excellant care of me. Less than two weeks later, I ordered seconds over the phone, and Phil R. in Wisconsin aacted like I was his long lost brother. I have had great service from everyone so far.

The best customer service has been from four people: Deborah and Allison at AE Corporate, Kristle at Jeffersonville, and Abby the old store manager at South Coast Plaza.

Looks good! Any idea what last? I'm sure there are going to be some GMTOs of this shoe. We need walnut shell cordovan to come back and I'm in! Speaking of which - does anyone think walnut shell will ever be available in the somewhat near future? If they can source natural shell you would think they would be able to tan it to walnut.

Edit: Just saw those are going to be part of the "comfort" line. Are these going to be GY welted or cemented? USA or DR made?

"comfort" line = deal-breaker
