I was almost fooled into going a half size down in length for the Mora, but I ended up with the same size in the Mora as Park Ave's.
The half size down in the Mora I could tell within 10 minutes of having them on would bother my pinky toe.

Thanks to this thread, I new the current seconds sale was coming a few days ahead of time.  I called a Shoebank location to ask about a pair of Chromexcel Long Branch boots.  THE SA located the pair.  When I asked him to tell me what he saw wrong with the boot, he said he didn't see anything, it was a dark boot.  I could tell he didn't actually look, but I didn't want to call him out.  He then said he would call me and let me know what the discounted price was when the sale started.  When I declined to give him my credit card number, he told me to call him!  I called back when the sale started, hoping to get a different SA and tell me what the issue was with the boots, since there were other pairs at other locations.  No luck as the same SA answered.  I bought the boots anyway.  They had a few things that I thought could have made them seconds (color, wrinkled leather), but I posted the pic of the big one:  A gash in the heel that had been repaired. I felt like I should send them back on principal alone. I was close to keeping them, but I did send them back.  This is a long way of saying make sure the SA reviews the pair with you!  I will say that Chromexcel leather sure is nice.

On a very positve note, I ordered a pair of Chili University, and an Oxblood Dalton pair.  Susan, an SA at the original Shoebank answered an email I sent about Brooks Brothers seconds (thanks to this thread again). Unfortunately, by the time I called with my order, both pairs of the shoes I wanted were gone.  She was so helpful, and seemed to be extra nice because the Brooks Brothers shoes were gone (not her fault).  She reviewed the flaw on the Universities without me even asking.  Being new to AE, I'm happy I've found my Shoebank SA.

@Al Dente I'm glad it worked out for you, but for seconds the "gash" is no big deal to me.

Also, not singling you out in any way, but in general I think it's nice when they offer to tell you what's wrong with them, but I don't think it's their obligation. It's part of the deal (and perhaps the fun/anticipation) when buying seconds.

I wear the same size,10.5 D, in both. Both are new and they both feel great. Maybe I just don't know a good fit yet, though.

Thanks everyone! I actually ended up pulling the trigger on another pair of 8 last, Hale Oxfords in Walnut Burnished Calf that's on clearance right now for only $300 after taxes. Always loved these shoes. Guess I'll have to justify the Moras next month...

They're under no obligation to do anything, but he shouldn't act like he checked the boots when he didn't. It's also in AE's best interest to avoid returns, so not disclosing the issue before shipping is a lose-lose.

They're seconds. They have issues by definition. When you buy seconds you are buying a flawed product.

I agree that shoebank reps should not tell you they've checked a paid over if they haven't, but a nick like that might not even register to them - they may well have given them a quick look and found no glaring issue.

Looks like that could be the walnut grain eagle county that was inspired by the MTO thread. I swear I remember someone saying Paul mentioned something about that. Maybe I'm just crazy though.

I'll just leave it with this: you are knowingly buying factory seconds at a discounted price from SAs that sell products to that standard. Please don't expect them to be perfect or for the SAs to have the same expectations. They will likely point out obvious flaws, but a mark like that is one of the best case scenario for seconds.

Just give me those Adelaides. They look great and the finish looks a step above AE. Looks like a new last?

Anyone here have experience with the Kenwoods? I don't want to start the whole Dominican Republic vs. USA-made controversy here once again (it got pretty heated a while back ago) but I ordered the equivalent Brooks version off the BB site, called "Tumbled Leather Popped Midsole Penny Loafers", and it turns out the shoes say they were made in the DR. I find this weird, since BB says they are made in the USA, and AE says the Kenwood is made in the USA as well. I certainly didn't pay the $348 original price tag for it, but if I did, charging that much for shoes made in DR seems a bit off (fully aware of the cheaper "Ae by..." line being made in DR)...  have any of you seen this discrepancy before or seen this in your Kenwoods?

Thanks all! One day I'll attain enough knowledge and cajones to answer questions with the breadth and knowledge like y'all!

Hoping they release those adelaide in a mid brown, or maybe it'll look great in Bob's chili. Kind of wish it had a toe cap but it's not bad at all.  AE really needs to stop making such ugly chukkas, what the heck is that thing next to the tall boot? The Malvern would be fantastic if they re-released it on the 2 or 5 last, I wear my suede ones almost every week.
