Perfect for shell boots (and shoes) in the winter.  With the additional 40% off I got these for $53.  Well worth it!  nod%5B1%5D.gif

From whence? I'm thinking these are what I need. I've just about beat my Long Branches to Hell over the past two weeks.

It's been about a year I think. Good purchase esp if you're indoors all day at work and it's nasty outside

Well I only wear it about once a week. Still the same, it's just my right pinky toe, other than that it fits fine. My advice would be go up in width on the 2 last

I don't hold grudges on the internet icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif unlike some ppl who are sensitive. All good here my AE brother

I do like some of the shoes with the woven portions, but I think the Shreveport is one that I like less than others.  I really wanted a pair of the two-tone Rye NY or I could see myself with the Boca Raton, Taormina or Carlsbad model.  I think I prefer the woven section to be a minority accent rather than the bulk of the upper.

The leather is super supple and it's got the Vibram sole and split reverse welt, so its ready for winter. this one is for the elements so that my Eagle Counties and Daltons can stay pretty! I think once I clean these up, there going to be incredible.

Happy Friday all.

I really like my Cascades - great foul weather boot. I wish they would start making them again (or something similar). I like my Long Branches, but sometimes an ankle boot is more comfortable.

Complaining about seconds.

That's like the white collar equivalent to "beggars can't be choosers"

I agree with the woven section being smaller. I'm glad I picked up my Winhalls before they discontinued them.

However, I do like my Hampsteads in the summer.

Well, there's a different between minor cosmetic flaws and severe cosmetic or structural flaws. The finish came off a pair of second I had when I tried them on. Another pair heel tore on both sides the first day I wore it.

Or you can just make snide comments that provide nothing useful to this thread.

Very nice.  I really like those Winhalls.  I'd never seen those (either actually) before (AE noob).  The Hampsteads are nice, but I think I would prefer the Boca Ratons for a similar style.  I don't think the missus likes the shoes with the weave much, so I may never have any.  Fortunately, there are lots of other shoes out there.

winhall and boca owner here...love them

I have nothing against seconds. They're a great and affordable way to get into quality footwear. But seconds with truly severe flaws (I think the Dundees above qualify, and I've seen other "seconds" that are totally trashed in some way), even if purely cosmetic, should not be sold. It reflects poorly on the company in general. Having an outlet with some slightly-inferior merchandise is fine, but shoes that are so flawed that they only showcase your sloppy handiwork and poor quality control - that's not good. Just my two cents.

Burgundy. The Brown looks better.

*shrug* Gotten worse for firsts. Granted, anything this bad has been a return. For seconds, I might keep them.

I've been getting flaws on firsts too. Maybe it's a sign I should stop buying shoes.

Some seconds are still OK though. Wearing one today

Just my opinion...
I'm not nearly as bothered as others about that flaw. It would depend upon my intended use and the price. I would not buy them for $399 though.

We all have different expectations for the use of our footwear (and everything else for that matter). Mine are decidedly utilitarian. Granted, I appreciate fine footwear, but I don't necessarily baby them. I have no problem wearing my shell boots on a quail hunt. I've worn shell Daltons on many sporting clay courses. My Long Branch boots have become construction-site-inspection shoes (mud!). They all clean up good as new. It was ColdIron on this and other forums that demonstrated for me the true durability of these shoes. At the right price, I would be happy with those Dundees.
