That's pretty dreadful.  If I were you I would ask them to waive the $10 restocking fee.

Me too. I don't think they should be selling those, to be honest. That's a real shame.

Unless you're wearing them with shorts, no one would see it.  Of course my OCD would remind me constantly.  But that's just me.

Ooh, ooh! Furiously switching to a new browser tab......

Dang! Not in my size yet.

Yeah, these are definitely the most noticeable defects in the seconds I've gotten so far.

Who do they think they are fooling, selling that? Now I'm worried about the Bourbon Strands I'm waiting on.

My experience is that most of the Bourbon seconds I have looked at exhibit "striping" (black stripes of burnishing). Not sure why. I think it's worth buying Bourbon (or other burnished colors, but I haven't seen striping on any other colors) as firsts, and getting black/brown/walnut seconds, if you can.

Hopefully yours are free of striping.

What size are they if you don't mind saying?  They look ok to me if the only thing wrong with them is that ripple.

^^^ Dundee 2nds

Ewwww.....

Although the technically they qualify as seconds, as long as the fit and durability of the show isn't compromise. That's definitely an aesthetic defect.

But I would definitely send back...

Thanks. And thanks for letting me know what to look for. Phil R. assured me they aren't noticibly bad. I'll take a look and see what happens. If worse comes to worse, I'll return them and get some clearance strandmocks in brown.

I'll probably return them in store.

They're 10D. It doesn't seem to be something that will go away if i try to stretch out the fold.

I wouldn't worry. This is the first time I've ever something this bad. I think I've been through around 8-9 pairs. You'd need to really sit down and look to find the flaws.

Yeah, I'm definitely returning. I would feel self-conscious every time my pant leg went up.

How are those San Marcos working out?  Are they stretching out or do they still seem narrow?

Please don't hold a grudge against me for that clown thing -

Spent about 30 minutes trying on shoes with the sales associate. Explained how I am a 9E in the Strand and McAllister, fit perfectly, and tried on the 9D (they didnt have a 9E) in the Fifth Avenue. As expected, it was too big. I then tried on an 8.5D, which was the perfect length bit a touch too narrow. Meaning my 5th Ave size is 8.5E.

This particular store also stocks the Strand, so I asked the SA to bring an 8.5D and 9D strand out to compare to the 5th Ave. To her surprise, the Strand 8.5D wouldn't fit on my foot, even though the 5th Ave 8.5D was almost a perfect fit. Maybe it has something to do with the construction of the Park/5th Avenue vs the Strand/McAllister, even though they are on the same last.

Ordered an 8.5E 5th Avenue from the shoebank, we'll see how it fits (maybe the one they send me will miraculously fit the same as the other 65 last shoes and be too small... who knows).

It really sucks not living close to an AE store and being outside of the US.

Yeah...you know what sucks just as bad?  Taking a 7D, living fairly close to an AE store and knowing that every time you visit, the SAs know you take a size they don't carry, hence all other customers come before you.

Are those brown or burgundy? I was considering a brown pair in that size. Mebbe I should put my order in before you return those... smile.gif

like I mentioned earlier, unless you're in the market for the BB models, I don't think the seconds sale is too impressive.  Take the Rush Street - they are already discontinuing the blue and green, which leaves just the one color.  They will either introduce new colors later this year or discontinue the line entirely.  Either way, the price of the second goes way down.  But what will happen to the first?  Do you really think it will drop below $200?  Highly unlikely - so I think it's a pretty safe bet.

Yeah that Amex thing - I knew there was a reason why I had 3 separate Amex cards....smile.gif Unfortunately I only did the deal twice.  Purchasing four pairs at the same time as my Surface Pro 3 i7 was a big hit all at once.

Well I've been busy this week and snoozed and lost on a price match chance. I thought the might happen as the Rush St you pointed out at Nordstrom's only showed one size left. And now it's gone.

LOL, well I gave up my expensive flying hobby about 5 years ago, then got back into photography two years ago. Those guys and their lenses put our little shoe problem to shame. So yeah, she should apprecite my handsome shoes more!
