It can only be good for American manufacturing to have this company be as profitable as possible.
My brother and sister in law are super strict vegans. I respect their commitment, but they won't wear leather, silk, or even wool under any circumstances.

Silk comes from worms.

Yes. Yes, it does.

A few days ago, I posted pictures of my Khaki (Grain) McTavishs.  At that time, someone mentioned that they thought that the Khaki McTavishs soon might be on sale for $149.00.  Later, someone posted a picture of the flyer for the upcoming AE sale, and the Khaki McTavishs will be on sale for $149.00.

When I posted the picture, I mentioned that, since the Khaki McTavishs had leather soles, I was going to have TOPY sole protectors put on.  Someone always asks what TOPY sole protectors look like and how much they cost.  They look like this and they cost $25.00.

@garland, are you going to get any up-close-and-personal time soon with the new SWB?  I'm trying to think ahead for MTO possibilities.  ;-)

Speaking of the SWB, I picked up a pair of Players Shoe firsts in Walnut at the Rack today, for $169! They've got a few scuffs here and there from being out on the rack, but they're really sweet shoes.

I like the 222 last a lot more than I expected to. The sizing was quite funky - I normally wear 8.5D but the players in 8EEE actually fit perfectly. Not even slipping on the heel. My toes have some room to wiggle but the length is surprisingly good and they don't feel too wide at the ball of my foot either. Strange sizing, but hey, a pair of first quality Players Shoe for $169? I'll take it.

Pics below.

What made it even better than saying I thought they would be $149 was that I knew they would be $149.

Has anyone had success in requesting a seconds sale price a few days early? Or conversely, a price adjustment if you bought it a few days earlier?

Are my photos not showing up? There are no seconds markings on the soles, not even the occasionally-incomplete ones.

And yes, I have seen firsts at the Rack, usually in a few very old styles. I go there from time to time to see what they've got. And there are two nearby. And a real Nordstrom from which I occasionally see returns end up at NR.

Absolutely love those - so sleek looking.  For the longest time I have wanted them but with the pain I endure from my Jermyns, I know the Westchesters just won't work out.

Holy crap, you weren't kidding - those were firsts.  Nice job my friend, they are awesome indeed.

You're pretty lucky - the only firsts I have ever seen at NR are those DR-made ae for AE shoes and the prices are very high.  The most recent things I have seen at my local AEs were (all seconds): San Marco (black), Players (many different suede colors), Gray Black Hills, Brown Aberdeens.  Always in very large sizes.

meant to say my local NR, not my local AEs
