I recall many had issues with the last feeling too tight in the forefoot.  Maybe it's on a new last?
Very possible. Similar to how Mora came back as Mora 2.0. Paul also promised a new shortwing blucher this 2015 so that might well be it.

Thanks! The open lacing probably contributes to the additional comfort that you get from the MacGregors vs that of 5 lasted bals.

Does anyone know why some older models pop up on the shoebank after a great deal of time?  For example in 12D there have been some black Promissory Point at $127 for a while and now a pair of brown football leather popped up for $127?

Returns either from an individual or a 3rd party retailer

I hope so!   Anybody wanna take one for the team and order it (and post photos)?

Any source or more info on the upcoming SWB? That'd be an instant buy for me if it'd be on the 5 last.

I'd suggest a burgundy/merlot wingtip oxford, e.g. the Cambridge (shell) or McAlister (calf).

If anyone has been waiting in suspense for the close of this mystery...I dug out the walnut wingtips in question and they are the fabled Bel Air model. Love these shoes.

Looking for some boot advice-

What do you guys where for formal/business occasions when it's wet outside?

Looking specifically for boots.

Thanks

There really isn't a "perfect" option from the standard AE range. I would suggest either arranging an MTO for the Dalton (or perhaps something sleeker like the Fifth Street) with a black Dainite rubber sole, which will keep the boot sleek and dressy but still offer good wet performance, or trying the standard Dalton, which comes with a double butyl sole, which will offer better wet performance than a single normal leather sole (and the Fifth Street has a single Butyl sole, I believe).

The Player's looks nice but its last was miserable.   A short wing blucher on the one last (511) makes for a killer combination.  I have the Auburn in Black from about 9-10 years ago.  It is MUCH better looking and comfortable than the player.  That's the shoe that should be resurrected.
