I'm waiting to see ifi can get the model code from the seller. I now the amoks came in tan, olive, navy, and bitter chocolate but never just a "brown" as the seller has it listed as.

@jlykos - I would love to purchase the amoks new however they are discontinued and no one has snuff suede.

You would probably be surprised at how many people these are "just shoes" to and don't know the ins and outs, colors and model numbers like most here. I'm not surprised that they are listed as brown at all.

Do you use anything to protect the soles of your Allen Edmonds?

I'm considering using metal toe taps but wanted to ask for advice on what works best from the members of this forum. Other options include topy or plastic and rubber toe-taps and heel caps.
I also use Topys, which are rubber and can keep you from slipping as well as protecting your soles, (although my first choice is always buying shoes that already have rubber soles and heels). Metal toe taps sometimes make noise and sometimes damage some types of floors and floor coverings.

I put a topy on some of my shoes if I know that i'm going to be walking on concrete a lot in them. Other shoes I simply keep the leather sole as is. Usually it's the more casual shoes that get the topy.

I have been thinking about getting a pair of the new Voyager walking shoes but I held back since I wasn't sure how they'd fit. Last weekend I went for a walk around Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis with a young lady friend, I wore a pair of Ridgeways. My ankle was sore afterwards. I was down by Milwaukee yesterday so I went to the factory outlet store in Port Washington and I dug through the seconds and was almost glad that I couldn't find anything that I liked in my size since that gave me an excuse to buy the Voyagers. I tried on a pair of Voyagers in 12D--they were a little on the snug side. I ordered a pair in 12E with the help of Shirley--great, helpful salesperson. She said three weeks but I'm guessing sooner.
I went into the Allen Edmonds store when I was NYC on vacation last week with the intention of buying these shoes. When I held them in my hands I just didn't like the way they felt so I ended up not buying them. I think i'm going to end up with the Epaulet cross trainers that just came on line last week. They are in the same price range. Let us know what you think when you get them. I do like that AE is trying stuff like this.

If using the plastic boxes, I would imagine it probably also makes sense to wait 24 hours after wearing and putting in shoe trees before putting them in the plastic boxes, to let them dry out a bit.

I do wait 24 hours after wearing before I put them back in the boxes. I also put shoe trees in them after they have dried out. I have thought about adding a few one inch holes in the back of each box. Still not sure how much airflow they would get since the boxes are against the wall and the shoes are in shoe bags.

I don't think it's as much about having air blowing through the boxes as it is just having somewhere for the air inside the boxes to escape. In an effort to keep the temp and humidity equal I'd say.

I believe it's the brown. I don't thnk that these came in a "snuff suede" option, but the brown would be as close to that as possible. I'm wearing my chocolate ones right now and the color is definitely different. That said, the shoes in the advertisement would need to be cleaned when you get them. Sapphir Suede Shampoo would work really well for that application.

Personally, I would probably try to pay a few extra dollars and try to find a new pair on sale because the pair in question do not look "gently used" as the advertisement states and because the cost of the shoes and the shampoo would come close to equaling a new pair. I paid $125 for mine, brand new; if you look around, you could probably find something similar.

Shoe Bank and outlets are selling Amoks for 99.00 right now, and I believe they are firsts, just discontinued

Nothing here's "necessary." It's a recreational internet forum. It is STYLEforum, so I chimed in.

To each his own. I probably wouldn't like half the stuff in your closet either.

You guys must be unfamiliar with the way VinnyMac posts. He is actually quite tame in this thread...

Just got my MTO on Thursday, so I took a few pictures to share with you guys today. I know some of you got your custom orders in 4 weeks or so, but these took longer than expected - 10 weeks. Ordered them right around Memorial Day, so I've been waiting on these for pretty much the whole summer.

AE Leeds in brown burnished calf, w/ poron insoles and titan rubber soles:

Your MTO Leeds look great and well worth the wait! I am biased though and feel it is hard to have too many pairs of Leeds
