YOU'RE INVITED

Friday, December 5th from 12-6pm

Allen Edmonds is giving away three FREE pairs of shoes during the Pearson's Corner Grand Opening Event. Join us and you could win a pair of boots, golf or dress shoes. Excludes cordovan, exotic and custom shoes.

LOL how did you get that invite? Seems a little far away from your home address. Can't make it on this short notice. I'll just daydream about winning a free pair and console myself at work with the fact that I never win prizes involving picking my name out of a hat.angry.gif

I think I got it because I placed a trunk show order through the Atlanta store . . . but you're right - even for a chance at a free pair of shoes it would be a long trip.  ;)

I just took two more pictures though, it seems the medallion on the right shoe (left in pictures) is almost coming off the shoe. I really can't be bothered to have them remade, but I'm not sure. What do you (and others) think? I know I overreacted to the flaw on my shell Daltons, so maybe I'm just doing that here. I only paid $180 for these.

Thanks! I'll say, it's pretty nice having my winter holiday attire picked out for the foreseeable future.

Up until the last picture you posted, I didn't really notice anything out of the ordinary. I'll say it does look like the right shoe's medallion is mispunched/aligned. The last picture is pretty good evidence that they're seconds, but I'd be interested to know what pricing that means since they're listed at retail on the shoebank (at least last time I checked).

I'd bring it up. Unless I already had multiple occasions to wear them to this year (which I do) or the aforementioned squeeze told me to let it go.

I found their $99 seconds at shoebank very reasonable.

I have their burgundy shell belt and have had it for a few years now. Worked well for me. It's a little lighter (more red), than my Burgundy or Color 8 shoes.

I am waiting a while longer to break mine out - probably after the 15th.

I just called my store when they opened but my SA isn't in til noon, but I explained to the other SA the situation. He looked through inventory and whatnot and said the earliest they can be made and shipped out is the 19th. He said he's just gonna go ahead and put the other order in now because that date may change by time my SA comes in at noon. He'll pass it on to my SA and hopefully I will have the shoes long before the 19th. I hate to have to have something done through an SA other than my own (even if it's answering a question about socks, I'm just a loyalist), but I'm close to the entire crew at that store and I know he'll pass it to mine with no harm done.

It's going to me tempting not to wear these over the next couple of weeks.

Hi folks, new poster here. Quick question for you.

I recently purchased a pair of Strands in Walnut.

The pair I arrived in the mail (a replacement for a sizing issue) has a big splotch of what looks to be stray burnishing on the left shoe, but not the right. In the attached photo, you will notice the splotch on the outside of the toe area, and on the lacing (it is also on only one side of the lace rings). Apologies for the bad lighting - the marks are a bit darker than the photos show. I tried them on once, and I received the following comment from a family member: "Did you get ink on your new shoes?"

The sales associate mentioned that this is perfectly normal, but I don't understand why burnishing on one shoe (in a random spot) and not the other is considered normal. Would someone tell me if I am being too picky or if this is normal for a new shoe purchased in the Allen Edmonds store?

If you haven't exchanged them yet, I would first use a cleaner and a cotton rag to try to clean the spot off manually. My Bourbon Strands had a couple areas of inconsistent burnishing (not surprisingly, as they were the first new Bourbon shoes I think this forum saw), and I was able to tame them with Conditioner/Cleaner and some elbow grease. If you have something like Reno'Mat, it might come off even more easily. If the rest of the shoe is flawless (and this works), it's probably a better idea than rolling the bones on a whole new pair.

A little off topic, but it does relate to shoes:

Has anyone seen the trailer for the The Cobbler? Adding it to my list of upcoming movies strictly because of the shoe aspect!

If I'm remembering right, this was a recent MTO, wasn't it? Brown cordovan Townley. If so, someone's is now sitting as a 2nd in the ShoeBank. Anyone want to fess up to rejecting it and letting others know what the defect was? Seems like a great deal at $299, if the defect isn't too bad.

It might be mine. Wrong size.

That's what I was thinking. There was a first quality according the the style number a week or two ago at 299 but according to my SA it wasn't really there but in a strange department. Thought maybe it was mine that they returned my 1st, created a 2nd in the system, then sold it back to me without them physically having it.

However I had my SA get in store to check it out.

Looking for opinions all -

My AE rotation currently consists of Walnut Cliftons and Walnut Daltons, just got a hold of some black McTavish's as well.

I want to take advantage of the current seconds promo going on, and order some Fifth Ave's at the $199 price. With the McTavish being slightly more casual, and no real formal black or brown shoes in my wardrobe, am I better off going with a black or brown pair of fifth aves next?

It's nice to have a black dress shoe like the 5th avenue for evening events and serious occasions, but the brown one will be more versatile for daytime office suit wear.

Answer is: it depends what you're wearing with them.
