I really wish I knew about this yesterday.  Now I am considering the Strand at $288...  This is going to turn into an obsession very quickly.

Edit:  Nevermind, they don't have my size in the Strand.

Just wait until you buy your first pair of shells, now that will turn into an obsession VERY quickly.

They look great! Although, they could be quite a bit tighter as you mentioned. But anyhow, welcome to the forum! (I see that was your first post).

Thanks! These are my first pair of shoes I've ever actually laced that way, so a slight learning curve as I venture down the road of not dressing like I just threw something on.

Definitely more comfortable than the converse' I'm used to wearing. haha.

Ahh, you'll get used to it, haha. And they definitely don't look like you just threw something on, which is always good :)

Would anybody care to evaluate on the following? I've got a pair of black Harrison's that I'm yet to wear (I just haven't had any reason to wear them yet). However, I randomly got the urge to take them out and have a look at them, and I noticed something on the caps of both shoes. I'm not sure whether they're small scratches, or what. At first I thought they were little pieces of dust or hair on the shoes, especially when looking at the picture. However, that doesn't seem to be the case as wiping them down did nothing, nor brushing and buffing.

EDIT: All I needed was a bit of shoe cream. Reason I didn't do that before was because the last time I touched these was when I polished them a while back; they hadn't left the box since. Oh well, here they are now:

To whoever posted a couple weeks back to use leather lotion to rid boots of squeak, thanks!

I knew about the talcum solution from the AE store, but just a touch of lotion along the tongue and behind the eyelets did the trick on my Bleecker Streets! icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I do Navy chinos with my walnut strands... I don't see why the Dalton's would be any different.

FYI--I used AE conditioner (not sure if that was my post you're referring to) and it went away, but when I went to wear the boots 2 weeks later, the squeak was back, albeit much less noticeable. It may take a few wears and re-applications, but it seems like it's almost gone.

My first AE shells, brown PAs, came in last week. Tried them on in the store, they fit fine. This morning, on the carpet, I noticed significant squeaking. The heel is definitely where it is located, my foot rubbing on the inside of the shoe. There is a little bowing, which isn't a problem with any of my other five last AEs.

Any ideas? The heel slipping is not a deal breaker, though it may be if wearing them all day, but the noise is. I literally couldn't wear them to work. I'm leaning towards taking them back and maybe exchanging them for a pair of calf plus another pair. I bought them during the RDA ($550) sale, I wonder if I could get the sale price on an exchange.

Mine did that originally (Townleys not PAs) and it was because I didn't have h shoe broken in yet. I usually wear mine on carpet at home after I get home from work for at least a week or so. That helps any squeak or fit anomaly get fixed. Just a thought.
