I have experience that to a lesser extent with my walnut Strands...try some natural heel and sole edge dressing and you should be back in action.

This has happened to all my shoes; it's about how you walk, not about the shoes themselves. After the initial wearing away (leather vs. concrete, concrete wins), it won't go down anymore. The edge dressing is going to get it back to the right colour and you won't be too worse for wear.

Also, the pants do have a little extra break - it's because they're new and I expect them to shrink a little. Plus my legs are skinny, and avoiding break on a narrow leg opening is tricky.

Edit: They're Fifth Avenue's btw.

How to size for the fifth avenue's?

I wear a size 7.5 in Barrie/Trubalance

Thanks in advance!

I have a question. I already have black Park Avenues, brown Fifth Avenues, walnut McAllisters and brown Wolverine 1000 Miles.

What would be the next shoe I pick up? Right now I am kinda thinking a penny loafer without tassels, such as:

Westchester

350

or

Randolph

350

or

a Rancourt penny loafer hand-made in Maine

350

What do you guys think?

I would get something in merlot/burgundy.

You may still be able to get the Presidio as part of the 2 for 200 deal from the outlet centers.  I got it in merlot. It looks similar to the Randolph.

I have the torinos in brown, and they are really comfortable. A more "italian" take on the traditional beefroll loafer. I think I saw them on some 2 for $200 lists so you might want to check it out.

When did AE start selling the Player's Shoe in walnut and black calf directly from allenedmonds.com?  I thought they were Nordstroms exclusives?

I got these Hales from the 2/$200 sale:

Loving them so far. 2nd time this week I wear them. They were 1sts. I was going to wait for the Nordstrom Park Avenue sale, but these are very similar. What's the difference? Maybe I'll get the PAs in bwn when that sale rolls around.

Doesn't Nordstrom only put black Park Avenues on sale?

Just a quick comment about the Westchester. I really wanted to love them but I find that the low vamp style doesn't suit me. I'd prefer a higher vamp like the Randolph or Presidio. I have the walnut Westchester and they just don't get any wear...doesn't help that they don't fit perfectly but I've decided I don't like the style enough to get them stretched a hair to make 'em work.

Sadly they sit relatively unworn in shoe bags in the closet. 11D if anyone's interested. I'd sell 'em cheap as they were 2nds to begin with.

I've been closely following the Rancourt site and thread. I'm really liking some of their options.
