Just like KMD said. That's a pretty basic repair for a competent cobbler.  They will usually sew a leather patch to the heel cup area. I would say about $20 or so.

Thanks guys. I've never seen or caused wear like that before, so I wasn't sure.

I think it depends on the leather and pattern quite a bit. The Dalton looks more blobby when I look down on it, but the 2-last is so long that it can feel like a clown shoe. For me, that was more true with the Ashbury, a wholecut, than with the EC.  The toe cap (and possibly the grain) helps make my EC much more eye-pleasing than the Ashbury ever was, even though I sized the EC a half size longer.  Still, I find the 511-last has a better creasing pattern than the 2-last on my foot.

Note that in the below photos, the EC is 11 3E and the Dalton is a relatively narrow single-E.

The tassels of my Pembrooke tore off :-( does anyone know if AE can replace tassels during recrafting?

I had my Manchesters and Bridgeton recrafted and they replaced tassles on both even though they weren't torn off. They were just a little frayed.

Fashion advice: Dark brown strand with chinos. Yes or no?

Hi Gents,

I have a quick question for you, i ordered a pair of Long Branch Chrome Excel in 10.5 E as they are boots. But i usually wear a Strand in 9.5 E and a McNeil in 10D (but it's a little bit uncomfortable as the day goes on the toe)

Do you guys feel like 10.5 E is the right size or i should change for a 10E ?

Thanks

Just as an FYI, it turns out that legal tender doesn't mean they have to accept it:

Quote:
This statute means that all United States money as identified above are a valid and legal offer of payment for debts when tendered to a creditor. There is, however, no Federal statute mandating that a private business, a person or an organization must accept currency or coins as for payment for goods and/or services. Private businesses are free to develop their own policies on whether or not to accept cash unless there is a State law which says otherwise. For example, a bus line may prohibit payment of fares in pennies or dollar bills. In addition, movie theaters, convenience stores and gas stations may refuse to accept large denomination currency (usually notes above $20) as a matter of policy.

The obvious answer is to wear them, but otherwise? I wish I had sized up on the width of the pair I bought, they're beautiful and I already wore them once in an attempt to start breaking them in, but they're rather narrow...

Wearing my Burgundy shell Daltons today, which fit very well. However, my Walnut calf Daltons in the same size are a tad narrower on the right boot. I have been putting my largest shoe tree in it with a thick hiking sock around it in hopes that it will help stretch it, though I think it's gonna come down to more wears.

I would not size up a long branch ever...yes change it...assuming the Mcneil is not short but tight every where else...and there is a chance a 10D might be the best choice as LB tend to run a touch big..

I wear mine with chinos. Typically with an OCBD, sweater or shawl cardigan up top.

Yes the McNeil is tight but in the same time, i have a pair of Promontory point in 10E and they are the worst pair of boot i had...

So i'm not so sure.. i want something comfortable

Here are a couple pictures of my new Jomocs that I bought during the last seconds sale.  One pic is of just the Jomocs and the other is a side by side with my Alden chukkas.

They fit me kind of like Asics running shoes--snug around the heel with a roomy toe box.  I'm a 12E and they fit slightly loose compared to other styles.  You might want to size down.  I like them better than my pair of Leeds.  The laces tend to drift to one side or the other since there are so few eyelets.  And they could have done without the piping, but I really like the feel of them when I'm walking in them--striding, rather.
