It's legal tender -- they'd probably grin and bear it -- but after my years in retail, that's something I would not do.

I can't tell if you're serious or not... If you'd roll them up, why not just cash it out at your bank instead? I think paying for anything in all coins is a dick move if it costs more than $5. Maybe $10 if you have the not-often-used/not-well-circulated $1 coins.

Find a grocery store with a coin star machine. Or go to your bank. Where is a retail clothing SA going to put 600$ worth of coins? Very few of their transactions are cash anyway.

There's a penny loafer joke in there somewhere.

Just make it easy on yourself and your SA and let your bank dump them into their coin sorter.  Takes seconds.

EC is 2 last vs. Dalton 1 last. The 2 last is narrower, so EC may be "sleeker", depending on what you mean. I find a material difference in fit with the 2 last, so make sure you can wear it.

It was more on the joking side, and I really wouldn't want to do that to my SA, but at the same time it would be a feat to say I bought a pair of shoes with coins (for me, anyway). But, as you three have instantly denied me approval, I'll bring them to the bank. By the way, all of my AE transactions are cash! (I guess I'm in the 0.001% that pays cash for AE).

Coin stars are awful. If he chose that option, he'd lose $74.01 to the machine for the convenience.

I'm going to pay for my trunk show shoes in cash. Just have to figure out how to spread around the withdrawals. I was thinking a pack of gum at publix and $50 cash back 24 times ought to disguise it enough smile.gif I was just hungry.

Yeah, if you ask for cash. But you can get 100% in Amazon gift card. We buy so much for the kids from Amazon, it's basically the same as cash. We bought my daughter's 400$ baby crib with change from 8 years of NYC vendors not wanting to take coins...

Plus, my bank is USAA, and thre are no branches outside of TX. frown.gif

My name is Joshua and I work at the Allen Edmonds store 70 in Buckhead (Atlanta, GA). I've posted some over in the Allen Edmonds MTO thread helping folks with their shell cordovan trunk show orders and thought I'd join this thread as well. I'm here to post the new and/or interesting items that come through the store as well as to answer questions that you guys may have.

I thought I'd start by posting the newest shipment of shoes we just received yesterday. All these are on the website but sometimes an in-person photo is more revealing. Enjoy!

Cheers,
Joshua

2. Cavanaugh - Stone Suede

3. Gobi - Stone Suede

4. McGregor - Navy Suede

Cheers!

Quick question guys. I picked up a pair of AE Hillcrests at a thrift store ($5). There's some heavy wear on the inside of the... i don't know what it's called, backstay? back strap? near the topline at the back. You can see it here:

Is there any way to repair this? The shoes are in very good condition otherwise or I wouldn't bother.
