Does AE offer a wingtip in suede that's not a balmoral? If not, can anyone recommend to me any brands that may? For science.

Edit: Also, does anyone know what the specific sale is during Black Friday? I called Port Washington and the SA mentioned something to do with closeouts...

They offer the Player's Shoe, which is a) out of production and b) on the narrow 2 last. But it pops up periodically on Shoebank.com as seconds/closeout and there is also a version for Ralph Lauren.

You can also custom make the MacNeil in suede.

Yup. I went into the store and there are more colors than the website. I think there was navy, snuff and chocolate or brown.

Picked up some Dalton seconds in walnut and oxblood.

As you can see, oxblood is very very similar to merlot. I think I'm going to stick with the walnut.

Quality on both pair is pretty much perfect. Not 100% sure on sizing though.

I have about 10 pair or AE dress shoes, including Shelton, Strands, and some others on the 5 last. All of them are a size 8, with the exception of my Kenwoods in 8.5 and another pair I got from Shoe Bank in 8.5. The pair from Shoe Bank, I just put in a Shoal's heel insert and they fit great.

I'm looking at picking up some Long Branches, but I will be wearing these with a heavier wool sock instead of a dress sock. Would people recommend sizing up on these to an 8.5 or 9?

Thanks

Do they both have stitches across the tongues?

Yes I do. When I called to order them, the SA told me both pairs had just arrived in the store.

With that said, I love the look of the Cavanaugh and have also been contemplating grabbing a pair in oxblood.
I picked up the cavanaugh in brown. The shoes are very darkccicwas planning on wearing them within jeans and blazer. The shoes are almost black. How does oxblpod look?

Also, does anyone have suggestions for lacing the long branch?

These were seconds probably because of the misaligned eyestays.

That said I love the walnut Daltons and I think it's great pick up!

Here it comes guys! Another post about me being picky with my shoes! Haha, I'm just joking (somewhat, anyway).

On a serious note, I've only ever purchased one pair of seconds, and that's my pair of shell MacNeils. I absolutely love them, and I've been able to deal with their flaw since the day I received them (don't be so surprised, everybody). However, a somewhat ugly crease has started to develop on the toe cap of the left shoe. It doesn't bother me, really, I just want to know if anybody else has had this occur as well. The shoe fits perfectly, especially on my left foot; it's actually one of my best fitting shoes. That being said, I don't think it's a sizing issue at all.

The crease was faintly visible on both shoes in the exact same spot upon arrival. I figured it was okay because they were barely noticeable. They were actually more of a bump rather than a crease, but I'll continue to say crease. Anyway, what I believe makes them seconds is not the bump/crease, rather the misalignment of the wingtip.

Here are some pictures. Has this ever happened to anybody here, and is this normal? I still wear the shoes, and I surprisingly do not get bothered by it. It was just something that came to mind as I was moving my shoes around today.

I have a pretty similar, but less distinct (so far) bump in my shell Cambridge firsts. It is right in front of the wing as yours is. They are about 2 years old and haven't developed a crease. It doesn't concern me.

PSA: Burgundy Shell Daltons in 12 D on Shoebank for $439.20 (20% off boots)

Also, brown Longbranch in 12 D for $199. This is a low price for this particular color.
