Just received mine from Freeport, with mixed results. The Strawfut looks and feels great!

The Kiowa, on the other hand, is going back. I do not see myself proudly sporting a mismatched pair of shoes. Had these been labeled seconds for any other reason, I likely would have kept them. I hope you guys have better luck.

Depends on how tight they are.  Going up in length will also increase girth/width.  Do you have access to an AE store?  You can ask them to order a couple sizes to try in store.  Otherwise a 10.5E or 11D might help.  When I move up in width, it spoils the heel.  Not everyone has that problem.

Thanks for the help.  Luckily, I'm in DC and can just head to the AE on Connecticut Ave.  Frustrating that the shoes don't fit well - oh well, the dangers of ordering online.

Let us know how you make out.  Best of luck.

**Edit**

I have another pair of Neumoks on hold at AE to check the fit.  A shame since I want to put those on the road right now.

They were $198 from $348, which isn't mind blowing, but it's good! The trick for me is finding a 13B during any sales throughout the year. I had an AE pair in my basket for $225 on Zappos last Thanksgiving, but was in two minds and that was the only pair, apparantley.

Quick note, the BB sole is softer and more comfortable than the AE.

when purchasing 2nds what usually is included?

any AE loafers worth recommending?

I know these loafers aren't AE, but I was wondering what color

would this be close too? walnut or brown?

You are undoubtedly referring to the poron insole, yes?

With seconds, nothing is usually included (except maybe a shoe horn).  You can buy shoe bags and shoe trees separately, but they are not included with the seconds.  With firsts, you get shoe bags included.

AE does a good job with their tassel loafers, and has a myriad of penny loafers on various lasts and with different soles (rubber / leather).  If you are interested, just call one of the outlets to see what they have in your size and then do a google search to see what the shoe looks like.

It's tough to tell based on the picture, but I would imagine burnished brown calfskin would be somewhat close to that color.

Hey guys, what do you think of the polish job here? It was my first attempt at "bulling" and even though it's nowhere near the mirror shine on patrick_b's shoes, I thought it was a pretty good job.

Also, the pants do have a little extra break - it's because they're new and I expect them to shrink a little. Plus my legs are skinny, and avoiding break on a narrow leg opening is tricky.

Edit: They're Fifth Avenue's btw.

I'm going to be picking up a pair of Daltons in the next few weeks and wanted your opinions on the differences between the walnut and the dark brown.  I currently have a pair of walnut stands that I wear business casual and a pair of dark brown fifth avenues that I wear with suits.  The daltons will be worn mostly (90%) business casual so I was wondering which color you would all suggest I get them in, walnut or dark brown?  Thanks SF.

I will probably be the few that tell you to go with dark brown just because I think it looks better than walnut in this particular boot.

Not bad, especially for your first attempt! The more you do it the easier it gets especially once the shine and depth is established.

I also agree that dark brown looks better than the walnut for the Dalton, in calf at least. In addition because you already have walnut strands for business casual going with the "new" black- dark brown, you would open up wearing pretty much anything you have in your wardrobe I would think.

Some great pictures posted on here.

Yes. I had never put on the BB offering before and it was unexpected. I have owned a walnut AE pair for about a year now and that was my frame of reference.

Cheers!

Would have been interesting if they matched the cap toe contrast though...

I also got a pair of brown BB Strands, and they are absolutely gorgeous. The "feel" of them is totally different than my walnut strands.

I'm still not 100% sold on the poron insole though. Though comfortable, I'm not quite used to how it sits higher than the regular AE leather insole... it feels a little strange
