Also noticed the "Riverside", which looks like a Clifton without brogueing:

I'll bet these are made specifically for the Rack; interesting idea if this is what Nordstrom is doing.

Did anybody else notice that the green offering clearly has a seconds stamp on the sole? If I recall, there was quite the discussion as to whether AE sends the Rack seconds.

Probably another boring post for most of you, but thought I'd post 2 of my 3 recent purchases during the recent RA sale: Walnut Strands and Merlot McAllisters...

Immediately dropped them off at B. Nelson (aka VIP) to have the flush metal plates installed and picked them up tonight...maiden voyage tomorrow! As for the 3rd purchase I made during the RA sale, it's the Fifth Avenue in Bob's Chili, which I am still waiting on as my size had to be custom ordered by my local store. I'll hopefully have another post for you all in a week or two when it comes in. Although, I must admit that new Oxblood Strands are calling my name! Do you guys think I'd be able to exchange the Chili Fifth's I got during the sale for Oxblood Strands without having to pay the difference in price? I ask because even though the Fifth Ave and the Strand are the same price, the Oxblood Strands were technically not available during the RA sale...decisions, decisions!

Looks like he did a superb job!

And he threw in Woodlore Ultras as well?

I don't know what the motivation is for the oxblood, but I'm glad it exists and that it's being used on models that have no burgundy or merlot option, such as the Strand. It is a little odd to see it offered in the Park Avenue since that shoe is available in merlot. I think it's a really pretty color, though. I want an oxblood Strand.

I hear that, but I thought they offered the merlot strand at some point. Perhaps that was just a webgem. Also, the strands are offered in Bob's Chilli at Nordstrom and apparently will be available at other AE stores at some point this year.

I guess I just don't see why they wouldn't offer merlot in more models? I suppose it doesn't matter, as I'm all for variety. Just trying to create conversation.

Snuff Suede Neumoks today...something about unlined shoes makes them that much more comfortable IMO.

$40/pair.....I believe it used to be $35, but I saw some others posts from last year that mentioned the increase to $40.

How do the Strands fit compared to other 5 last shoes? I own a Park Avenue, Fifth Avenue, and McAllister in 6.5E. The Park Avenues and Fifth Avenues fit very similar and I was able to lace them up so the lacing area closed up near completely. For the McAllisters, they took a lot more breaking in. I have worn them a few times on carpet and have worn them once outside so far. I think they will break in eventually since the lacing gap is about 1 cm apart now. I was wondering if I should get the Strands in 6.5E or 6.5EE. I wish I had more time to order a pair that I could test out since my size is hard to find in any brick and mortar stores.

I'm an 8C in the Strand and I ended up ordering that same size for my Fifth Aves that I have on order. It *should* fit the same...

I think oxblood is a prettier color than merlot. Maybe they're going to slowly phase out Merlot like they've almost phased out burgundy calf. I could be wrong, but isn't the Patriot pretty much the only show offered in burgundy calf?

My Merlot McAllisters are too dark for my taste. From the pictures I've seen, I'd much prefer Oxblood... that is, if I didn't already get some light Burgundy Cordovan Cambridges to replace them! Speaking of, if anyone is in the market for some flawless, only-once-worn Merlot McAllisters in 8.5D, let me know! ;)

I've never heard of anyone size their calf Strands differently than calf Park Avenues or Fifth Avenues. I will say I'm between 8.5D and E, and think my Strands are best a D and McAllisters maybe would've been better in E. It sounds like you have a similar experience with McAllisters being narrower.

That said, 1 cm is actually a pretty close gap. If your Park/Fifth Avenues in 6.5E close up nearly completely, I would actually consider 6.5D instead.

I like these a lot though honestly there looks like a lot of crappy workmanship on the pictured shoe....I know I saw a boardwalk without a picture on shoe bank...wonder what last it is....hmmmm I could replace my olive neumok with this....

long wing blucher or shortwing bank, which goes better with shorts
