Definitely CXL, not shell. Still, some of the packer boots look cool. And I like the idea of supporting small start-ups. But probably a little too nervous to spend so much money on an item I can't see, feel, or try on first.

They are exactly a month old. Which is bullshit and I barely get to wear them. Just a couple of times.

Take pictures, post to the shoe care thread. Where did you buy them? If from AE or Nordstrom, you may have a generous return option, if it seems like a manufacturing defect.

Month old....assuming you bought from a retailer...return them.

I go them from Nordstrom, I had to return the first ones I bought there was a lot awful of squeaking and there was also a problem with the welt. Here are two photos, sorry for the quality folks.

I can't see anything in the first photo. Looks normal. From the second pic, it looks like your gait wears the heel really hard, and it's pushing up the insole. That happened to me on my long branch, but it doesn't cause me any discomfort. I can't say from the photo that it's a manufacturing defect, but what I can see is limited, and so is my technical knowledge.

But Nordstrom is extremely (almost ridiculously) generous with returns. If they won't exchange them for you, it's likely that AE will directly through the manufacturers warranty.

Good luck. And definitely cross post in the shoe care thread...

Well, I know as a fact that I put all the pressure of my body in the ball of the heel, I can feel it no matter what kind of shoe I'm wearing. The left foot looks fine and no problem, the problem is this one (right one). I guess I will go to Nordstrom in a little bit and see what I can do. There are no Nordstroms in Whorelando.

Although I might l want to get some kilties, unfortunately, I live in Los Angeles and the nearest Allen Edmonds store is around 55 miles (an hour and a half to four hours drive depending on traffic) away in South Coast Plaza.  It only gets worse, since the Cordovan Trunk Shoe that was scheduled for South Coast Plaza (which I was thinking about going to) has been cancelled and relocated to San Francisco.

I am probably one of the two or three people in Los Angeles County who wear Allen-Edmonds shoes. When I wear my Allen-Edmonds shoes and are amongst people who wear the $600.00-$1400.00 leather shoes that are more common around here, they usually think that I am also wearing $600.00-$1400.00 shoes and are surprised when they ask me and I tell them that my shoes are from Allen-Edmonds.

Not directly AE related and short notice but Skip Horween is at the Roots flagship store at 80 Bloor West in Toronto until 4pm.
