Burgundy shell is so much easier to get. I prefer dark brown shell.

Curious too. B. Nelson is definitely more expensive.

Eh. I would have worded it differently. They weren't unwearable if you were willing to take more of a discount on them to keep them.

Yeah, I wasn't clear in my initial email. I subsequently explained that the discount would be so I could pay a local cobbler to make them such that they wouldn't fall apart.

Hello everyone!! This is my First Post and I have to say I am pretty excited. I have looked on this thread quite a few times just to read up on some comments from other AE Connoisseurs, but I think with the most recent addition of the oxblood option to the AE Catalog has pushed my excitement over the edge and I just had to get involved.

I am getting ready to pick up my 10EEE oxblood Strands here in Atlanta which I cannot wait to get into my collection. I have been really interested to see how different the Oxblood Strands will look next to my Merlot Mcallisters, and how well of a job AE has done in making sure that there is enough of a difference for the two shoes to be distinguishable.

Hopefully this will be my first post of many!

I just checked my amex and I have the offer for $50 off $200.

Anyone going to try using this on a shoebank purchase? The offer says in-store or online at allen edmonds and doesn't mention the shoebank...but my previous credit card bills just state "allen edmonds", so...

I think this will work. Another option would be to buy a $200 gift card. I use these amex offers on gift cards all the time.

Yes, the Shoebank is a retail location.

Is this a one time deal -or- do you get $50 off for every charge over $200?  If the latter, I can rack up some savings!

I had the same question.  I called AMEX and they told me it's a one time deal.

I figured that would be the case.  Thanks @Shoes4play.

Just picked up these Park Avenues in Walnut Cloud from their South Coast Plaza store. Excellent service. Already a little beat up as I've worn them a lot.

Here's what I got from my SA regarding the First Avenue's 201 last (description below from the AE design team):

“The 201 last is the newest last introduction from the Product Development team.  This last has a higher cone, providing more room for a higher instep and contemporary shelf appeal.  The toe down has fuller forefoot width for more comfort and slight chisel to the toe profile, providing a sleek looking aesthetic which complements our iconic 65 last.”

The ceremony was on a point on a lake and it was very windy. A constant 10-15mph breeze which made for some interesting pictures and last minute switching sides at the alter so the women could be looking into the breeze (for hair purpose). Glad I used some hair spray for the first time in 15yrs or so.

There would have been some more aisle decorations and flower girl petals, but they would have lasted about 2secs with the wind we had. It gusted so hard it blew a few vases with water and flowers off the alter we had and shattered on the stone. Fortunately it was just during the seating of the parents/grandparents. Overall we wouldn't have changed a thing though.

Congratulations @csmitty!  Looks like a beautiful event in a great setting!

Don't tend to take and share pics of my AE collection but felt like it today with my not new but recently polished black fifth street boots - a bit underrated on the forum but love them!

Also nice shot of the fifth steet boots a few posts above!
