Does anyone have any experience with AE belts. While I have 30 pairs of AE shoes, I don't own 1 belt. I just ordered 3 of the Manistee Belts (brown, burgundy and walnut) and a Cottonwood Olive Distressed Belt. Am I going to be happy with this almost $400 order???

Personally, I love their belts. I think you'll be happy with them.

Check out Equus for belts. I'm a big fan of AE shoes, but rely on other sources for matching belts.

I have several of their belts including the Walnut Manistee. They are very nice. I try to catch them on sale though as $100 is a lot for a belt. Then again I shouldn't admit how many shell belts I have and how much they cost, some of them being AE.

Agree. I :inlove: AE belts.

The only problem is your second belt order, which is coming sooner than you think.

+1 for the manistee belts. I have them in walnut and merlot and like them a lot. Wouldn't pay retail for them, but at the rda price it's not too bad.

Chili Regent Streets tieing in the casual outfit today. Love this shoe. Chili is definitely my favorite color of AE calfskin.

Only problem is some of the toe burnishing has come off with Reno application frown.gif

Also regretting my sock choice a little. Looked less blue when I grabbed them.

I agree with Equus.  Although it's a bit more expensive than AE's, the quality and color of the belts are very good.  I ordered one for my wedding just to match my Walnut Strands and couldn't be happier.  I have two belts from AE and it doesn't match up to the quality of Equus.  Plus, if you order from them, you get 10% off for being a SF member.

Is there a USA source?

Nope, they're located in UK. That's why they're kind of pricey with the shipping.  Check out the Equus Leather thread and you can find a lot more information there.

Just received my burgundy shell Dalton's this afternoon, after waiting only 3 weeks!  (Got them with the RDA pricing too).  As this is my first pair of shell shoes, I'm very impressed -- looks to be excellent quality, which I've come to expect from AE as a fan of many years.

Question: before wearing a new pair of calfskin shoes, I make sure to give them a good polish as a means of protection and to keep them looking great.  What should I do with new shell shoes -- just wear them out of the box?

+1 on AE belts. They are great on sale (now) and they are also available as seconds. There is a guy on this forum, @allaboutshoes, that sells shoes and belts at discounted prices.

Congrats on the beginning of your new addiction! You'll start a fire storm with that question. I wipe my new AE shell down with a damp cloth to remove excess polish, which is almost always present, and brush. After letting them dry thoroughly, I apply VSC , let dry and brush some more. Then, off I go. The truth is, most of my new shell get evening wear on the carpet for an extended trial and break in period before I hit the streets. Good luck with yours!

I got the Bombay and agree with everyone that AE is great. They are pricey though so I've been looking at other places for my more simple ones.

I've found them hit or miss. A couple of the belts I've purchased are very stiff, and they have developed very sharp creases in the leather around the hole I buckle. Others have been great. All the belts I have purchased have come from the outlet though.
