These were seconds. When he checked for first-quality shoes there were four 11.5 D brown shell Strands in the system.

I'm starting to crave a pair of longwings too. It just never ends. confused.gif

Cross Post from MTO thread

I think I have narrowed down my MTO options on a Shaker Height platform to the below...only concern on the bourbon makeup will be that I probably would not wearly my bourbon daltons much at all....

Ok any improvements I can make to these? Inspiration boot pictures posted and yes I am aware they will not EG quality etc etc etc but for more than half the price cheaper I am ok with it.

Got caught in a little drizzle this morning, pretty much my only shell that gets rain marks. I think it has to do with the very stripped down nature of this particular pair. Maybe I should get some paste wax to help give a protection coat.

Edit: Maybe I should give this frankenstein pair of shoes some HDLP treatment since they are going to be my casual beaters...

Doh, I should have been able to figure that out by counting the number of eyelets.  Would probably be hard to get 7 onto a short boot!

Yep, like the Bleeker Streets I just bought. :fonz:

I was just wondering about the Shaker Heights because I'm drawn to the tweed. Would wear a tweed jacket with my OCBDs as a pretentious high-school youth and perhaps I'm feeling a bit nostalgic. Haven't worn it in forever.

There are black and brown in my size on the shoebank, and a Chili (but no black) if I go up 1/2 a size in length, like some of you seem to have done. Peppercorn's Chili Shakers do indeed look awesome.

Amazing that I did not think that was the case...I guess the Shaker's seem less tall do to the supple Napa leather..completely different feel when wearing.

That's good to hear.  Wasn't able to try on a 73-last anything at my last store visit and I am not used to boots at all.  I probably could've gotten used to the Daltons, but had a hard time thinking I would eventually get accustomed to the feel of the Long Branches.

The Black Shakers are boss. And rare.

It is known.

PSA:

I got an email a couple of hours ago for a meet and greet with AE's CEO at the new Buckhead Atlanta store 5-7 PM tonight.

Address is

Pearson's Corner

Atlanta, GA 30305

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it.  And here I am wearing my shell Cambridges today.

Agreed. Not to rain on the parade, but it's probably going to be better off doing it with the EC and even that won't be close.

Shake Height's has the pattern in the shaft of the boot for the tweed "insert" which will look weird.

Yeah I know...I subscribe to the eg thread so I am aware of the differences..hence the word inspiration...I think they will look like a Shaker Heights in a similar makeup...

Edit: oops hit submit by mistake too soon...

But yeah the bourbon pebble combo would probably be more off looking than the suede upper

Not raining on the parade at all...thats why posted to get some opinions....and I thinkbit is the heel leather part on the Shaker coming to far forward that will throw the look off the most..

The suede upper panel and eyelet probably would look better than the pebbled leather.

Two fresh additions:

Bob's chili Sturgis (no perforations, no logo)  Commando Gumlite

Size 15D @EvilWagon (made with 511 last)

Bourbon Dalton (limited perforations) Oxford Gumlite

I wear boots most days, so a AE is fulfilling my own fantasy boot tour.

-with sufficient variety in both materials and outsoles for my preferences.

Chili Shakers in -- most comfortable shoes out of the box I've ever had. Unreal. :slayer:

Love the Sturgis...looks great

you need to post a pic of the Dalton on..the angles in the photo I do not think are doing justice to it.
