@JJGNYC Those look like typical shell creases to me and if there is nothing else wrong with the shoe  those are a keeper...more important is if they fit the Norwich is touch to get a good fit on I hear.

not sure what happened to your original post but it is not showing up now

I was at Jos A Bank today (don't hate) to pick up a pair of shoe trees. The manager told me there's a sale on Thursday that includes shoe trees, they will be buy one get two free. Now I'm assuming that sale will be nationwide, so I just thought I'd let you guys know if you wanna grab a few pairs of shoe trees.

Thanks for the tip. 66% off is equivalent to buy 1, get 2 free. Plus it's free shipping. Of course, by the time I made it to order confirmation, they were already backordered...

Sweet will be walking on over there today

I tried on a pair of new LBs - 10.5D.  I was unaware that they changed this to a gumlite sole, but felt that the soles were too soft - almost to the point where it would be very easy to roll and ankle.

So, I returned the LBs and started looking for the 2013 version with the harder vibram sole.  No luck - even at the Shoebank, but was lucky because the factory at one remaining sole from last year, which they agreed to put on a new pair of LBs for me.  I am buying the LB because I want a boot, not a pair of workout shoes.

I was told that they made this change because the harder sole was extremely hard to attach to the 511 Last.

BTW - I am pretty average - 6 ft, 180.  Cant imagine wearing the new LBs if I weighed more.

Nice find.  That is indeed Bob's Chili and those will be hitting the AE website soon, although I believe it will be after RDA.  So, anyone who wants a good price on those would be well-advised to snap them up now from Nordie's.  They appear to only have D and EEE widths, though.

My Bob's Chili Strand seconds are arriving tomorrow.  I will post pics.

Perhaps peppercorn78 is correct, but that forum has a couple idiosyncrasies I've noted, including the compliment "nice shoes, uncle, wear them in good health."

Provenance?  I don't know.  During WWII, regular officers of British Army addressed the middle-aged civilians who were commissioned as junior officers as "uncle," conveying both respect and a degree of derision.  I haven't any idea if that's relevant, but that forum is more international in its membership.

It's usually MacArthur (the father of shell care theory for most of us) who is addressed as "uncle" in that forum (and this one too, if you read the Alden and socks threads). And everyone else is his "nephew." smile.gif

He's sort on an Alden patron saint.

I don't believe he was involved in the PG reddit thread.

At the end of the day, it's all about the shoes . . . and on this day, they're burgundy shell Daltons:

Just received my Chili McGregors a few minutes ago, and they're beautiful! Only concern is the stitching on the bottom. Is it too close to the edge?

Please post more pictures of the McGregor if possible. Would like an overhead and side shot. Thank you!

Yes, need more pictures of those! Would you say that the color in the pic is a good representation of how they look in person? In the pic they almost look like a light bourbon, not seeing much of the reddish color I see on the AE website.

Walnut shell dalton today

Is it October yet? Yes it is!

I threw on the Bolts blue kicks for the Home Opener in Tampa tonight.

I was pleasantly surprised at AE store today. Being fan of Neumok i never ordered, because Boston weather is not very conducive for leather soles. Recently, i paid attention that website permits now to order Neumok with 'V Tread' sole for additional $40. When i inquired about this possibility, not only SA allowed me to spec Dainite sole (not possibility on web site), but also waived $40 fee as well. Hopefully this info will be useful for somebody.

A few more shots of the chili McGregor. The color in the pic is not truly representative. Definitely more reds than what is showing. I don't have anything in bourbon to compare @kpag

(please excuse the poor camera work)
