My shell Daltons arrived at my office after I left on Friday, so I just tried them on this morning. Very uncomfortable! The tongue was sewn in crooked. I'm fairly confident these were returns, since they were laced when I pulled them from the box. Anyone else have this issue?

What boots do you guys normally wear for winter? The only boot I have is LL Bean katahdin.

I think we should def consider it for the next round, if there is one. smile.gif

Although, I think it looks quite good in calf, as it is a dressier chukka, after all.

I'm a little disappointed that there aren't more suede options. The Lexington would seem like a no brainer. I'm really jonesing for something that isn't a bal in bitter choco or olive.

MTO dublin Bayfields with the full lugged sole from the Long Branch if it's going to stay under 3" or so, some Bean Cresta hikers if it's going to be a couple more inches than that, and if the apocalypse comes to DC (...February 2010) I break out a pair of Sorel Caribou boots my dad got me in the 90s.

Preapplication of HDLP (on the Bayfieds and Sorels) and a good brushing when I get inside are essential.

For work I wear Longbranches, and for casual I picked up a pair of Alden 403's (brown CXL Indys). I also have a pair of Kiowas (brown grain AE's with dainite soles) for winter work-wear. I picked up the Aldens at Lost & Found on Ossington. Longbranches are really comfortable boots.

For me, I'm eyeing that MacGregor on brown grain calf, with Dainite sole. Would be perfect for rainy weather.

The tongue in my Longbranches are a bit crooked but does not affect wear at all and my Daltons happen to fit me great. Is it just the crooked tongue? or does it not fit right in other places?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Unfortunately, you may have lost the seconds lottery.  If they're not comfortable, no matter how disappointed you might be, don't keep them just because they were a good deal, because you won't wear them.

BTW, what color are those?  Maybe it's my monitor, but they almost look like walnut.

Thanks for posting that. Man, those dark chocolate Daltons look absolutely stunning.

Does anyone know how much it would cost me to get them MTOd in a width they don't normally make?

My thoughts as well on those Daltons, the edge on them makes it. Hard to believe they got that one spot on but fumbled the CXL Long Branch welt.

Anyone know the Gobi last yet?  Seems like a hell of a chukka for $250

Per discussion from a few pages back, I was quoted $125 (before the SF MTO program began and later ended).

I bet it's worth a call to Allison. If you do, let us know; I'm in the same boat with regard to another model or two...
