Bourbon Daltons are one of the best shoes AE makes imho. I like the over under lacing too.

You should have imported all of them. Theres a Walnut Strand 10E and Truffle McAlister 11.5E. The McAlister is the only one I could pull off but I think it'd be a bit redundant with my Brown shell Jefferson. Good score and price though. I think all those are 2nds. Not sure where I heard that though.

I'm not sure if that would've flown very far. I didn't want to get greedy. The store in Italy told me that they paid VAT already for these and it didn't sound like they could get that back by re-exporting. Add to that the sale price, and it's not just a steal, but the next thing to theft. I'm not sure how Port Washington worked this out for the Italian store, but I wasn't going to impose more upon their generosity.

FWIW, they speak good English. Just don't speak too quickly. The one lady, Christine, even pulled off a British accent.

EDIT: btw, the store in Italy does NOT have the discounted prices. For Daltons, you'll pay about 510EUR shipped to the USA.  That's about $661. You might get snagged on customs charges too. You MIGHT be able to apply for VAT refund (20%), but AE won't knock VAT off for you automatically as some stores might do, unfortunately.  Pricey for seconds, perhaps, but if you really want that color & make-up...

There is a big (RDA) sale coming at the end of this month, 15% or more off.

The shell sale can upgrade your look fast,

although it may be a tad addictive, be warned.

$325 sounds high for a pair of seconds, but you would double that for a pair of firsts.

Edit: slow to the draw!

Sounds good.

When would be the best time to buy shoes at their lowest in normal calf-leather?(referring to my Park Ave's in Chili and a McAllister/Park Ave in Merlot)

Well, lurking here long enough, made me want a pair of cordovans. Was wanting burgandy cordovan lace-ups, but Kentyman bought them like 5 minutes before I did.

So I settled for a pair of black Cambridge as a first cordovan shoe. What do you guys think of black cordovan? I see a lot of people venerating the walnut shells (as they should), but no one talks about black cordovan.

Brian at AE was the most helpful store manager I've talked to in a while.

It's in NYC at the Madison ave store. I have seen it with mine own eyes!

Edit: oops, I meant 10 3E

It was a bit light hearted getting all those others. Not even sure why they ship shell 2nds there in the first place. They also have 3 stores in China, go figure. That was great that they worked that out with you. Good digging on your part. I got lucky and got some brand new 1st quality Walnut shell Daltons for $500 here in the states.

Haha, that was a joke on my part in reference to that they were in Italy.

However it sounds like there is a pair floating around in NYC. I just asked my SA to see what was around in 11.5 and 12D. Not much it seems.

I'm glad it was someone from here that ended up with them.  Post pictures when you get them.

Black shell is a weird animal. It's a formal color in a relatively informal material. Might be overthinking it, but I tend not to wear mine (black shell Leeds) during the day unless it's overcast. I like pairing them with selvedge, open collar, and a dark linen sportcoat if I go out in the evening.

If you wear suits to work, I suspect those Cambriges will serve you particularly well for the next twenty or thirty years.

Do you have Sergio's email? I wanted to ask him about something (not this shoe, a different one).
