Snagging a new package on my way in the apartment from class and a stop by Ian's shoelace site made for a perfect study break :)

Walnut Sheltons and some of their fans (Click to show)

Walnut Sheltons -- previously felt like this was too much of a dice roll based on AE's pictures, but the search utility on this thread helped alleviate my concerns. Nothing too fancy (good lord some of the MTOs of this shoe y'all have shared are magnificent) but exactly what I was looking for. Thanks, denizens of the thread!

Good choice! I don't wear these enough (partially because they don't perfectly handle my high instep), but they feel pretty good today:

This shell ones, as well at the Chromexcel ones in the MTO forum, really make mine looks mundane. :)

Moving displays around in our showroom today and the Bayfields will need some love when I get home. My toes took a bit of a beating frown.gif

Hmmm I would disagree :)

I so regret not getting a MTO or walnut Shelton. The only ones I have are really old school

I snagged the last walnut shell dalton from Pelle Line.  Ultimately, I'm happy with the purchase, but a couple of small things bugged me:

1. The left shoe was obviously worn, as there were creases just proximal to the wingtip and some minor scuff marks on the bottom of the heel. Likely just tried on and around the store, but still irked me a little, as the right shoe was deadstock.

2. Either an AE or Pelle Line thing, but the shoes had a bunch of grime and dust layered over it. Not that surprised having read about AE shell shoes and what they look like after sitting on the shelves for ages.

Now, how would you all advise me to get the residue/finish off?  I don't have renomat/renovateur, but rather I've bought some glen karen products.  Would the GK conditioner get some of the gunk off?

Also, I might try leaving the shoes in sunlight for a while to see if I can get them to lighten a bit, as they're definitely darker than other walnut shell I've seen in this thread.

The light wear will all be lost in the noise once you wear them out. Don't fret.

The grime is likely just shell bloom and dust. Wipe them with a damp cloth and brush away. If they look dry after that, any conditioner should be fine, especially GK.

Hey guys,

Just picked up a pair of banchory seconds, at $107 they look to be a good pick up. Overall the shoe is in great condition, maybe a slightly crooked tongue on the right foot.

The issue I am having is with the heal... Something that has been an annoyance in the past. The heels on both shoes are uneven and rock when pushed back(see pics).

Has anyone else had a problem like this with their shoes?

Looks good to me. Personally I dont think this is an issue. Most people when walking, their feet would land with the rear part of their heel so in no time at all most shoes would have a heels that are actually "thinner" at the back because of wear.

Just my opinion.  But, for me the 8 last fits similar to the 4 last.  I wear a 10.5 D in 8 and 4, and a 10 E in the 5 last.
