Paying for shell is my last resort. The 8 weeks wait time for a pair of brown shell Dundee is a bit of a deterrent.

I suppose I can pay full pop for a pair of Burgundy Dundee from Club Monaco, but I am on the fence with the color 8.

I have a Burgundy Shell Dundee and the color is coming along well on it. Its a 2nd. I think the leather got formed a bit strange as one had a strange roll already in it.

Will probably get a brown at some point which would be a really versatile shoe.

There's a black shell dundee at the shoe bank but unless the sale hits and I have nothing else I want i'll pass as I only do black for formal stuff.

Just curious as to why people are scared of wearing shell in the rain?

Curious myself. I know of some complaints about water welts on lighter colors, but even these will come out with some Reno and elbow grease.

I'd much rather wear my shell shoes in the rain than regular calf that soaks it all up.

The problem maybe is that rain leaves shell looking kind of speckled till you can get home and brush them. Doesn't it? Haven't been caught in the rain with mine recently so I forget. If I'm right, though, then it's not the long-term effect but the rest-of-the-day effect that has people concerned.

At the Shoe Bank site, what's with those 'image coming soon' listing at the bottom of the page?

Enquiry mind wants to know...

Some are classic styles that simply lack a picture (Clifton and Randolph). Some are special makeups or MTOs. A couple of them have names I don't recognize such as "Riverside" and "Laguardia".

In my size, I see a Neumok in Acorn Hillfire which was a special makeup for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (unless it's arriving this fall). Oddly, as a second, it's selling for more than it sold as a first at Nordstorm.com

I picked up this Mora 2.0 from the shoe bank and besides the pictured defect there's nothing else wrong with them. Since this is so close to the toe is there cause for concern? Thanks!

I'd get a topy and forget about it.

I ordered the amok in sand suede. The only thing I found wrong with them is a small spot and the lacing is kinda messed up, but I don't really care that much since they're going to be 'fun' shoes. Pretty excited for the price.

I bought the same size as my suede strands and they feel longer. I almost feel like I could have sized down even more but I can't believe that I'm an 7.5EEE! I think it's a matter of the sole breaking in.

If you don't mind not having the slip-beading on the top line of the shoe the Lakeshore Drive is cheaper than the Grayson as a base for MTO.

Re the shell Grayson, out of all my AE tasseled loafers it's ironic that they are my cheapest pair :-)

Haha, yeah. I don't know why, but the burgundy shell grayson just didn't look right to me. I saw a pair of the burgundy or brown calf ones in a fit pic and I just didn't see how I'd wear it. Good tassle loafers in that color are definitely on my list. I'll get them someday. The shell ones would have been a good buy, do you have a picture of you wearing them?

It absolutely cements my need for a pair. I have now worn my black calf PAs enough to know that there is a place for the shells in my shoe rotation, and the coming sale makes it a no-brainer.

I definitely have my fingers crossed that they will be in good order!

Finally got some time this afternoon to take a few pictures.

Outside full sun

Inside with flash bounced off ceiling.

Hope that helps!

Sold. Sold and sold!

Now I can't wait. Gorgeous shoes and lovely shots as well, that second picture could easily be an AE stock photo.

Bourbon Strand for me today:

A fun and safe Labor Day Weekend to all who observe the holiday!

Bourbon is a tempting color. A pair of mora 2.0's from the shoebank are calling my name. Hmm.....

Are there any pictures with the brown and bourbon side to side? I need to figure out which way to swing, if I'm swinging at all!

The brown ones were firsts I got from the DSW website for ~$250 on sale.  Great deal for both, as far as I'm concerned.  I rarely see seconds of the brown in AE's shoebank.

The most I paid for any of them was $140 thanks to a friend of mine who was able to get them from RL about 2 weeks ago at $199 plus his discount. They are firsts. All other 4 pairs I paid $86 for thanks to a friend who worked at AE and let us use his 40% off smile.gif ! They treat their employees very well.

There's one pair of Leeds in my size in the Shoe Bank, to be bought once they slide under $375 or so; then I'll have enough to be getting along with.
The @Cold Iron school of shell care appeals to me (beat it to hell all day, then take good care of it when you get home). I'd happily wear shell in the rain -- if any of mine was rubber-soled.

I went TTS, half size and width up from the 5 last. My right pinky was getting crushed for a bit, but it stretched out just fine. I think it's one of AE's better lasts.

I must be missing something, I can't find the Sanderson on AEs website?

However whenever I wear my Dundee's its always guaranteed to rain....

I'm wondering how well shell holds up WRT snow, etc?

They were made by AE for Ralph Lauren. They were (maybe some are still there) on the Ralph Lauren website. They are similar to the now gone independence collection Williams.

Here's my bourbon Strands next to brown Neumora. Hope this helps.

I have a pair of dark brown captoes, so perhaps the lighter bourbon will serve me better in the mora 2.0.
