No duty just taxes since made in america. I get taxed on 50% of my shipment, and its 5% tax.

Very tempted by $67 Amoks right now, gotta call and see if they will do free shipping to Canada. I'm not trying to pay $45 shipping on top.

Personally, I do like the Amoks. They are good for those days when you just need unlined suede. The insole is a bit crappy - it kind of "bunched up" and got sloppy after a couple of wears, not sure why but I think it was due to sweaty feet. The insole of the Mojave is a lot better - it's leather and feels much sturdier. I'm guessing the Amok is poron? For $67 you really can't go wrong if you're after an unlined GW chukka IMO.

I really really hated my amoks for the first 10 wears or so but imo those things once properly broken in are just reallyamazing.

Can we get some pics of Amoks in the wild? I'm wondering how the suede looks, and if the tan color is too light to wear with darker pants (or dark blue jeans).

Just wanted to share a semi complete group pic of my AEs which I've started buying only a year ago. And the RDA sale hasn't even started yet. Ugh, a disease.

This is snuff suede. Apologies for the clown socks.

How do you like them peppercorn?

I'm thinking that tan might be a fun color to have, but it's a hard color to get to beat on, snuff is better for that!

I picked up this pair of Allen Edmonds at a thrift store.  The sole of one is marked "Factory Reject."  The leather has a texture to it, almost like a fish scale or cross-hatch.  The valleys of the texture are considerably darker than the surrounding area.  Is this part of the design, or are the shoes just dirty?  Should I try to clean them with saddle soap, or polish them and leave them as is?  Obviously, there is a nasty gouge across the vamp of the left one.  Too bad.

Thanks in advance for the help.  I know very little about shoes, but I am trying to learn.

9D in 5 last fits bigger than 9D in the Amok (I forget the last).

The amok's last is more narrow than the 5 last.

As for the the quality:

For the most part, AE makes fantastic shoes, but the Amok is not one of them. I purchased first quality Amoks for $100 six months ago, but had to ultimately return them due to quaity issues. I guess for $69, there's not much to lose, but I wouldn't expect from a quality perspective.

I have the Amok in Snuff and haven't had any problems with them and I've had them about a year. I ordered the tan suede one about an hour ago, $69 shipped.

Indeed.  "#8 shell or mink suede loafers. Dark enough for a blazer, grays and a white shirt but also colorful enough for day; better than lace-ups for most no-tie outfits."  http://www.styleforum.net/t/338954/streamlined-shoe-wardrobe

I have neither but my McGraws in truffle shell are a great substitute.  Super versatile.
