Was waiting to post this till I got confirmation from my SA (whos a timezone behind) He's been open for 8 minutes so I don't know why he hasn't responded yet smile.gif I hoping he's working the phone right now getting them on the way. Been eyeing those for a while.

Edit: Just talked to him and he's got my request in. He shipped to his store to not waste any valuable time and would honor the price as he said thats been the hot topic of the day and I think they'll probably change it or something at some point.

Also Snagged a pair of the Cordovan Grayson's. Thanks for the heads up!

I am super tempted by the snuff suede in the clearance section for $157. I have had the Alden Snuff on my radar for a while and it seems the Patriot would just make me want the Alden more and in the end might be a waste of the money once I eventually pull the trigger on the LHS. Hell of a price though on the Patriot.

AE Patriot:
Lined
Moc toe looks machine stitched
Oiled sole
Full rubber heel

Alden LHS:
Unlined
Hand stitched toe looks much better imo
Oiled sole
Dovetail heel

I own shell versions of the Patriot and LHS (Brooks Brothers unlined version). I find the build quality to be about the same for both (pretty good), but where the LHS is close to a perfect fit for me at size 8.5D (general consensus is to size down 0.5 on Van last), the Patriot in 9D is a little tight across the instep. It does fit as well as the LHS everywhere else, and I suspect that non-shell versions of the Patriot would loosen up more around the instep.

I would suggest trying the Patriot. In my opinion, if it works for your feet, there really isn't a great reason to insist on getting the LHS.

Side by side (Left = LHS, Right = Patriot):

Wearing my white spiaggias with chambray pants and purple gingham shirt.
My wife told me I needed white wingtips, I was suspect but nonetheless pulled the trigger in a pair of seconds and don't regret the purchase.

They also look great with shorts.

Well...I was all set to get my sizing down and start getting on lists, but it looks like I'm about to loose my job this week, so I decided to hold off with the whole idea.

Fortunately I have two interviews lined up next week just in case, and the prospects for each look good. smile.gif

So maybe I'll get back on board with the whole thing by the end of the season, but I'm just a little spooked from the big ticket purchases right now.

That is really going to depend on who you ask and what you mean by casually. With chinos and an oxford shirt, maybe. With chinos and a T-Shirt, no. I wouldn't wear them in either scenario, though, personally.

Just talked to my store...SA said that the $199 price was a mistake in the system that was being fixed and that they couldn't honor, as the correct sale price is supposed to be $424.

Could work but to me that isn't casual.

Casual would be like a Mctavish or Neumok or even the Kenilworth

Nice score! fing02[1].gif

Usually the last number of the 4 digit model number indicates the last of the shoe, however they stopped exclusively doing this a couple years ago after running out of model numbers.

Actually the Kenwood in 8D was a perfect fit on me, I really wish I could have found a pair in burgundy shell during the clearance 2 for $299 sale. I would have easily grabbed a pair along with the Greyson for those prices.

I spoke with Riverhead about 10 min ago. They honored the price.

I have the Patriot in burgundy shell and suede. I love both. The suede feels an little more deconstructed than the shell, but it's also a much more pliable material. The Patriot fits me so well I ordered a third pair in black shark.

To the OP I would try calling another store. Since they all pull from the same system. It helps to have a history with a store but if your normal one won't do then then you have to branch out.

With the recent sales $299 shell seems expensive.

Would love some pics if you have a pair in the snuff suede. I cannot seem to find many pics of them in the wild.
