This was the plain toe boot I'd mentioned recently, the Sturgis. It is on the new B34 last, sized 'only' up to 14.

I am going to MTO one of these in brown shell.  I had planned to leave the logo but remove all perforations.  No one will see the logo, but I liked it on first impression.  My instincts are suspect :) so any comments about that logo would be appreciated.

@coolarrow Beautiful shade of brown, I have a similar pair coming and hope they will be nearly that light.

Hmmm....I kinda like those Sturgis boots in brown. The logo is a bit iffy. Though it will be covered mostly.

So many MTO's I can picture. I'm guessing the timing of these new releases and the SF MTO program ending are no coincidence. New shoes for workers, then throwing in the few custom orders, or probably a lot really, would really throw the system out of whack.

Yep. It's tacky. A good boot or shoe should speak for itself -- you don't need to advertise the brand.

My new Bourbon Daltons, after a little prep work:

I know the Dalton is on the 1-511 Last, but what indicates that here?

Does anyone know if the Brooks Brothers version of the shoes will have reduced pricing (and to what price) during the Labor Day sale? I sent out a note to them yesterday and haven't heard back yet and was curious.

Thanks for your help!

Guys, I just scored a pair of Grayson Shell burgundy seconds in 8.5D for 199 from the shoebank. Score!!!

Quick question -- did anyone ever have success sizing down and going wider on the 5 last?

I started out with a 12D (PA), way too tight near the toe box.  12E was still too tight after about ~6 wears (Strands).  12EEE was way too big.  12EE felt ok at first, but now feels too big in the front.

I wonder if I should have gone down to 11.5 and went wider (EE or EEE).

Thank you both for sharing.  Bkotsko also makes this point in his avatar.

Was waiting to post this till I got confirmation from my SA (whos a timezone behind) He's been open for 8 minutes so I don't know why he hasn't responded yet smile.gif I hoping he's working the phone right now getting them on the way. Been eyeing those for a while.

Edit: Just talked to him and he's got my request in. He shipped to his store to not waste any valuable time and would honor the price as he said thats been the hot topic of the day and I think they'll probably change it or something at some point.

What's the verdict on the Patriot vs. LHS?

I am super tempted by the snuff suede in the clearance section for $157. I have had the Alden Snuff on my radar for a while and it seems the Patriot would just make me want the Alden more and in the end might be a waste of the money once I eventually pull the trigger on the LHS. Hell of a price though on the Patriot.

AE Patriot:

Lined

Moc toe looks machine stitched

Oiled sole

Full rubber heel

Alden LHS:

Unlined

Hand stitched toe looks much better imo

Oiled sole

Dovetail heel

I have been tempted by the suede versions as well. I still haven't pulled the trigger. I am just worried about sizing, really. I don't have loafer feet.

I must say this Greyson price is testing my values. I generally don't fit loafers, and don't care for tassels in particular, and I already have 3 #8 shoes, but there's a part of my brain that's been programmed by you SF wackos that screams "must acquire shell at bargain price!"
