OK, JubeiSpiegel, thanks a lot. It certainly is a nice looking color.

It's not in the burgundy family at all IMO, it has more reds and browns in its gradient of colors. Take AE's original chili, and add dark brown to the lows, and a little red to the highs. Very rich burnishing, with a nice depth. I don't know how they will approach the oxblood, but it will be interesting to see next year...

FWIW, on the AE website you can already purchase a Carlyle in "Bob's chili" color number 8833

Yes, it was changed recently from "dark chili burnished" to "Bob's chili." The swatch I got from Allison also says "Bob's chili," so I would say that it looks like that's the official name.

AE IS a Midwestern company, after all. wink.gif

Figured I'd get some more use out of these before the New England summer ends soon. Friday seemed appropriate...

I really love this shoe for the summer however mine is the wrong size for my foot...I am a 13 e and order that size and it is terrible looking on me- This was also before I dialed in on the 65 last sizing for bal's which I wear a 12eee...and due to them being a bit looser on the fit because of the linen well lets say it looks like I have clown shoes on. I never even got to wear them out of the house.

Thanks. I'm 8E true-to-size but on 65 wear 7.5EE (Strand, McAllister). Tried 7.5E and my toes were cramped and very uncomfortable. When I saw these Strawfut on clearance I figured I'd give 7.5E a whirl since EE wasn't an option and they fit great. You're probably right - the linen loosens them a bit. Since EE is somewhat of a rare animal and if I had to wear E in all calf I think a little shoe stretch spray may do the trick but if EE is available that fits and creases well for me.

Any thoughts - just spotted this on the site

The first one doesn't seem to bad. Almost Wolverine like. The 2nd looks like it has the bleached toe, which is probably more pronounced in person than stock photos if the stankmok proves correctly. It also seems inconsistent. The SM posted above is pretty heavy. I saw one in store yesterday that was much less.

As with all AE boots...it needs more or closer spaced eyelets.

This^^^

The second one with the pull up leather is the one they previewed on instagram a while back. Looked better in those pics compared to the website pics. I wouldn't mind seeing that leather in person.

The picture of the Plain-toe Boots in brown leather looks much better (to me at least) as shown on their Instagram.

I really like those four eyelet plain toe boots but am not a fan of that Strandmok - the toe bleaching really turns me off to what otherwise is a fantastic shoe.

Goddamnit! Why can't they just do a classic Chelsea boot? Meh, maybe I should just buy one from Loake.

Curious what the B34 last is that this is built on - also it says it is Brown leather...not CXL so I am thinking there is no bleaching just a crappy photo

I kind of like the brown one and if the Krause Wolverines do not fit when they arrive then maybe I will order a pair of these...again though limiting to two leather choice colors is a bit ridiculous...would like to see the new oxblood as I like this makeup but would probably prefer it in a burgundy/ #8/ oxblood theme

Ugh, my thoughts exactly.
