Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread - reviews, pictures, sizing, etc... - Page 3134

sort of always liked the Clark St but really did not need them at all especially after I got my Cognac Macneil 5's but The Hitch had a pair with a flaw and for $90 bones I said WTF..I probably could have haggled lower but was not in the mood. The stitching seemed sound and that it just missed the loose section -

Applied some Liqued Nails clear small project glue and clamped

Repaired from the outside

repaired from the inside - not that anyone is going to see the inside - Very happy with the results - went back in with a toothpick and applied glue and applied glue under each little flap and they are laying perfectly flat now(done after photo)

Watch, those look fantastic. The classic AE shoe right there. I must ask, is it the angle or do you have a smaller shoe size?

Thanks Mike! These are 8.5Ds so I'm guessing they are a bit on the small size compared to the 9/10 average that I've seen here in the thread. Seeing the shoes you are letting go off makes me wish I had bigger feet :-)

Watch, nice pair, but it is odd - your medallion seems to be further down the toe than mine, noticeably more space between the cap-toe stitching and the top of the medallion:

I am sure the finished product is a noticeable improvement, but just a note AE manipulates the photos to create a more dramatic difference in their before/after pic - look at the background of the two photos. Too bad they don't take the shots under the same conditions and let the recrafting speak for itself.

Haha, yeah that is pretty egregious. And the AE FAQ specifically says they don't do this.

reader on Dappered.com suggesting there might be a 2 for $299 closeout sale next week.

"UPDATE: Thanks to Merrick M. for sending in a style tip about how AE Factory outlets could very well launch their latest 2 for $299 closeout models sale next Thursday."

Hi everyone, this thread is way too fast for me to keep up with!

I'm thinking of getting a new pair of shoes from the Nordstrom sale, and was considering the chili LaSalle. What do you guys think of that addition? From ThisFits' post the LaSalle sounds like a good shoe.

I already have a black Park Avenue, Brown Fifth Avenue and Walnut Strands.

Also, I wear 8D on the last 5; how should I size this?

I wear the same 8D on the last 5 and the lasalle is on Last 8 which fit me PERFECT, no break in time, straight out of the box comfortable.

I also have the lasalle chilli. If you wanna see the color in person PM me.

Saw $299 and got excited for shell. Alas, however there's some I could see picking up. However the 2 for 250 was much nicer.

Someone needs to email the shoebank or Jeffersonville and ask about the 299 sale

very nice ... Townley's remind of the Alt Wein without the bug on the toe caps.

I received the shoes back from recrafting today, and I must say that AE's photos were actually very representative of their work. The color change before / after is as drastic as seen in the photos. There is serious darkening around the stitching and the pinking. They're much darker and have a higher contrast than before.

Mind you, I'm not complaining. They're beautiful and the shoes are great.

Before (AE) After (my photo) After (AE)

Started off walnut and used cognac polish, with a strip of the polish on the vamp after a couple years. This is after 3 years of consistent shining.
