Trying to avoid solvents or too much scraping

Topy them.

Beauty!  Best of luck.  I'm hoping that you're moving from Big Law to small-firm practice . . . best decision I ever made, personally.

Hah.  I didn't know people still used that.  Law school was 20 years ago and I haven't touched a bluebook since.

I actually work as a legal analyst for Bloomberg BNA in Washington, DC.

My wife, who is from California, was just offered a job in Los Angeles and she is accepting it.

Unfortunately I am not allowed to work remotely, so I gave my two weeks notice today.

If you know of any job opportunities in the greater Los Angeles area, I'm all ears :-)

Looking to get an opinion on shoe selection for a wedding. I realize this may not be the best forum to ask in but since it involves AE thought I would give it a shot.

However I'm getting married in Oct. and debating shoe choices. For starters, 2pc charcoal suit, minimal to no pattern, 100% wool. Flat front, no cuff. (suit hasn't been acquired but those are the specs i'm shooting for) shirt and tie have not been determined yet. Can't decide if both should be solid or put a light check shirt in there. Groomsmen suits won't be matching, however shirts and ties will.

Anyways, for shoes I'm looking at brown, preferable shell. Giving wedding party option of brown or black. I have brown shell Jeffersons. But go back and forth on them being to much. So my thought turns to brown shell Strands, which i've been wanting a pair but none have shown up on the shoebank. I have a 20% off offer for a new pair of AEs so was going to MTO something at some point, so they could be the Strands. The third option would be brown shell PAs, which are available currently from the shoe bank and usually get a good deal on.

To sum up. Are the brown shell wingtips to flashy/business for wedding wear? And if I got brown shell PAs would I be able to wear them in a business casual setting. (possibly chinos?) Honestly I haven't even worn the Jeffs yet since I feel I need better trousers for them.

I'm using the opportunity to expand the wardrobe a bit and being allowed (I think) to add shoes as well. So want they to be something I'd get good use out of and enjoy. So if there are any other options some could suggest that would be great as well.

Thanks everyone! (even just sounding it out helps some)

Personally, I probably wouldn't wear anything with pinking as wedding shoes. I did something similar for my wedding, as I wore wingtip oxfords, but they had brogueing with no pinking on the edges. They were kinda like austerity brogues. I would 100% go for the shell PAs. You could definitely were them afterwards with chinos and an oxford shirt for instance. The combo of brown and shell dresses them down a bit. IMHO.

That would most likely work. I have one burgundy belt that I wear with all my bugundy shoes and they are all different shades. I don't get too matchy matchy with belts. I'd rather save the money for shoes.

but cool, i guess cordovan is another color that is very similar to burgundy/merlot

edit: nevermind, that belt looks more brown even though its called the same color as the previous one

I doubt the pics will really show the true color. You are better off checking dept. stores. There should be plenty of burgundy belts out there.

This haha

I use a Rancourt brown CXL belt most of my casual dark shoe/boot needs and a Walnut Manistee for my light shoes. I want a NATCXL belt next from Rancourt or the NATCXL one from AE if I can pick it up on sale from the shoebank.

I feel like Strands and Jeffs fill the same spot in a man's wardrobe, if they're the same color and leather.

I think you should definitely go with the Parks.

Yea, I couldn't care less about belts. I wear a brown belt that I got on sale for like $14 with Edward Green shoes that cost almost 100 times more, LMAO.

Lol,  I wear a dark brown uniqlo belt five days a week that I bought for $15 to wear with my shells. I just recently ordered a belt from Equus, an affiliate vendor.
