Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread - reviews, pictures, sizing, etc... - Page 3109

Just took delivery of my Brown Kenilworths. I have to say I love these shoes. The brown color is so rich and the shape is better in person than most of the photos I have seen. They are more...streamlined if that is the word. They are also surprisingly lightweight. They are seconds but I cannot honestly find a flaw. There is a tiny scratch and a little ripple in the part on top of the welt. My other pair of AEs had the same thing and they were firsts.

Maiden voyage of newly acquired shell strands. Got these from another member of this thread (who is now down to 71 pairs)

You would think so, but AE brought out both the Amok and Mojave in the fall.

Hi guys, does anyone know if the Nordstrom anniversary sale is only offering Strand in Walnut?  I'm looking to buy a pair in Dark Brown.

Thanks!

Wolverine 744 LTD (made by AE) today:

I love EVERYTHING about these boots - the color of the shell, the fact that they're unlined, the flat laces, the eyelets, etc.  If only I could get my hands on a pair of the 721 LTDs too.

Speaking of unlined shell, was anyone else aware that AE won't do MTOs in unlined shell anymore?  Apparently there were too many QC issues.  The last shoe they did it with was the walnut Dalton, and halfway through production they gave up and started lining them.  So, if you have a pair of unlined Daltons (as I do :slayer:), you'll be happy to know they're even more collectors' items than you thought.

If it was mdubs, would have been walnut shell or cappuccino shell.

Haha. Very true, but pretty sure he has/had brown shell as well.

I had a pair of unlined black shell Daltons made MTO delivered late last year/early this year, right around Christmas/New Years.

She balked at first when asked, then checked and agreed to do them.

My walnut shell Daltons are unlined as well.

Dang, maybe I should push her more.  After dithering for a long time, I finally decided to pull the trigger on a Dalton in burgundy shell with some subtle differences from the stock (light brown transparent edge and walnut welt).  I really wanted unlined too but she said they wouldn't do it.

Pretty sure the ones he has have a lighter sole edge (they are very similar to my brown shell Jeffersons, which is why it's ringing a bell). Could be wrong though.

Mine failed once, maybe that was part of the hesitation for the future.

I'm sure he'll be here soon, but pretty sure they messed up his first order's size (but it was partially his fault) so he sold them instead of returning. I also think they made a mistake on the sole edge too boot. I believe he has the correct size and sole edge, now. Dubs?
