Please tell me this is not one of those posts about one heel being a mm shorter/longer/taller than the other.

  Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

My guess is the inside of the left heel is unevenly colored/finished. Potentially wrinkled.

The medallion is off center as well.

Could be the angle, but the front quarters(?) look very uneven - look at the distance between the brogueing and the soles.

Also the strange markings above the left heel.

It looks like the shoes aren't completely evenly flat on the ground, so it looks a little uneven. But yes, I've seen shoes that were lasted a little off center...

Looks like just a little sloppy burnishing on the heel. I wouldn't even call it a flaw.

I saw the medallion issue, but think that might be just be a result of the angle of his IPhone when taking the picture.  The heel issue looked like a polish issue when I clicked on the picture.  I went with uneven heels due to how he has the shoes placed for the picture.  Survey says . . .

I apologize for the poor quality picture- I was in a rush to take my test so I could watch the game.

The distance from the sole to the brogueing on the right shoe is larger. Very subtle, but once you see it..

Excellent catch bkotsko, I didn't even notice it, but you are correct, the left medallion is maybe 2mm off center.

The burnishing isn't perfect by any means but that is a non-issue to me.

Whoever picks this pair up as seconds will be extremely happy.

The ruler is a little barbaric, but this should help. Hopefully

Bought the Dalton in "walnut" today. Great sale. I got the Daltons (seconds), shoe cream, sole dressing, cedar trees, large shoe bags (don't come with seconds) and a shine cloth for $284 total!

Congrats! I have the same pair, albeit much larger. They haven't gotten as much wear as I'd like in nearly two years that I've owned them, but that's mostly due to our long snowy winter and spring's tendency to turn into summer without much opportunity to rock em. They're great boots though, you should enjoy em.

Jeez, I just paid full retail at the Allen Edmonds store in Charlotte for the same boots. I had no idea about that outlet store. Good to know for future purchases!

The selection is VERY limited. But I happen to find something today. I look every time I go. But today is the first time I've found something I really wanted. My first pair of brand new AEs!

They are beautiful. I love my pair. It was a toss up between the Bourbon color or Walnut.

You know they'll ship stock available at other outlets and Port Washington to you or your local outlet for free, right? Maybe your wallet didn't want to hear that. I called those guys in Mebane to have them ship me the only pair of brown shell Patriots in my size yesterday. Should get here on Thursday.

If you don't want the shoes due to the defect being too extreme for your taste, you can return them to the local outlet for free or ship them back for $10.
