Great shoe, comfortable out of the box and breaking in nicely.

I've had a different experience. I take 8D in the 5 last (Strand), yet have the Kenwood in in 8.5D. The 8D in a Kenwood was painfully tight. Probably should have gotten an 8E in the Kenwood. I also have the Maxfield in 8D. I think the Kenwood is a very narrow fit for myself.

I love the Singletons, and own them in both Brown and Tan.  Wear them in good health!   What size?

I'm also very interested in the singletons.  Are they on the 2-last like other RL models? How do you find the fit compared to other lasts (5, 3 , 8)?

I'm not sure if they're on the 2 last. Someone here mentioned that Highland shoe company did the singletons. That may mean that they're on the 2 last, but I'm not sure.  I do have another pair of RL sandersons and I have them in this size (9.5D).  I've got shoes in all the lasts you mentioned. The only one I had to size down 1/2 size was the 333 last shoe. That last is a elongated.

Like Coolarrow, I got the RL Singleton (though tan) and it also had a little bit of wrinkling at the heel counter on one shoe. The other is flawless. It is a substantial shoe.

Regarding fit, I have the RL Sanderson -supposedly on the #2 last - but the loafer doesn't seem to fit the same. Like the Sanderson, though, the Singleton is very tolerant of my high instep.

I might add I've seen at least one article the Singleton was made by a third party located in Maine so it may be on a different last entirely from any regular AE lasts. I wear a 10.5E or EE in the 5 last (I need about an E+) and the Singleton in 10.5 E fits me perfectly.

Anyone had any experience using talcum power to reduce squeaking noise (from tongue pad)? Or any other methods?

Ok. Looking for a bit of help for those that buy a lot of 2nds. This is the 1st pair I've worn somewhat regularly. 3 times in 2 weeks. They are Dundee 2nds and the SA said they looked good. I couldn't find much other than an odd wrinkle so decided they were keepers. Them today I looked down (because it's hard to stop gazing upon them) and saw this.

The welt stitching has pulled up. And some adjacent ones towards the toe look loose as well.

The question is is this a normal 2nds issue? As I was understanding they were 2nds from cosmetics and not structural issues. Which in my option this is or would lead to a structural problem. If folks had this happen to them and it's normal then I won't bring it up to my SA. I'm sure a recraft will take care of it anyways.

I went back and looked at the picture he sent before I purchased and it's not apparent in those pictures.

Thanks for the help!

I ordered them the first day they were available as a web gem. They get about 1, maybe 2 days a week. having 28 pairs of AE I should wear them less often, but I do love these.

I always wanted a walnut strand and when the chance to get the Jefferson in Walnut on sale came this week I jumped on it as the Jefferson is an upgraded Strand ..No? Brown Cordovan strand was moving to the top of my wish list until I scored a used MacNeil Cord that seems brown

I have the Brown Shell Strand and Brown Shell Jefferson. Love them both. Of course the Strand is a captor and the Jefferson is a classic wingtip. They both are showing patina the same way and coloring is about the same on both. Caps on the Shell Strand appears l bit redder, but they are a year older and showing more patina at this point in their life. I like the sole being thicker on the Jefferson over the single sole of the Strand. I to have the walnut calf Jefferson. Those were actually my first AE Purchase a couple years back. I would say the fit is about the same on the Strand and Jefferson. Of course both are on the 5 last. The sale on the Jefferson calf would be hard to pass up if you do not already have a pair. You will love this shoe. My collection has grown exponentially since, and my bank account had reduced at an equal rate...

The Singleton is on the same last as the Randolph, which is the 9 last.  The Saunders and Sanderson are on the 2 last.
