I don't own a pair personally so can't show, but I do not see why not.

How tight/loose is new shoe supposed to fit

My 9.5D delray feel tight on last 2 toes it appears that the shoe become narrow just a little bit too early thus run into my little toes. It does hurt but just feel tight even when i am not standing on it. The mid section of shoe is ok. The heel is right against the back of my foot you can hardly stick a pinky through.

I had a 10D delray and returned it because I felt it was it loose, it also had some heel slippage but not out of the shoe or anything.

Should I have just stuck with 10D? or try 9.5E. Or just stay with 9.5D?

I wear 10D for Park Avenue.

The poron lining works better for me than the standard AE lining.  I have a narrow heel and a very shallow forefoot (i.e. I have little "meat on the bone" from the ball joint forward).  In the AE 5 last I swim in an 11.5 D but I get pinky toe metatarsal pressure/pain in 11.5 C.  Wearing a full insole in the D lifts my heel to the point where I get heel slip.  The poron provides just enough volume in the D to give me the desired "snug but not tight" fit in both forefoot and heel.

The brown distressed is very casual. I personally would not buy a shoe just because it's cheap. It'll always go straight to the back of the closet.

Thanks this is helpful and good advice.

I wear them to work which is on the formal side of "business casual" which still means everyone wears glued, rubber soled, black loafers or square toes.

I wear mine with wool trousers and sport coat regularly. You could probably rock them with a suit if in a pinch if needed, too.

My favorite pair of shoes in my collection just went through some conditioning/polishing I've been wearing them an average of 2.5x a week for the past nine months.

What model is that? I've just recently started to glance at AE shoes, and I'm interested in Strand amongst others (last #5 I believe?)

My question to you guys is which size would you recommend me to purchase based on my sizes in the following (all normal/regular widths):

C&J, 348 & 337: UK7,5
Vass, U & F: EU41,5
Carmina, Rain & Forest: UK7,5
Carmina, Simpson: UK8
G&G, MH71, GG06 & TG73: UK8

Any advise (besides "try them in person")? Thanks.

I'm 8.5UK in simpson, 42 in Vass f-last and 8UK  in rain....so that's pretty consistent with yours

I'm a 9E in the 5-last, which means you are either an 8.5D or 8.5E in the 5-last. If the simpson fits you perfectly, try 8.5E. If there's some room in the simpson last, try 8.5D.

Thank you for your answer. There's no room width-wise in the Simpsons. Based on that I should opt for US8,5E, correct? Is D standard width? Also, mind sharing the name of your shoes above? They look awesome!

EDIT: or did you mean US8E (or US8,5D if there's room in the Simpsons)?

Yup, opt for 8.5E.

That's the Fifth Avenue in the 5-last.

Good job picking them grey PAs. Don't wear them until you dye them - it will make it easier due to not having any creasing. First use de glazer / ace tone rubbing the polish once the grey colour stripped use a spray to dye the shoe. Now you will havers make 2 coats on 2-3hours difference. I have a pictorial on this colour change . Try finding using search. Navy PA are the best and most versatile !
