Xpost from Alden thread... pretty interesting piece on American Made shoes for the military. It just kind of makes sense...right?

I've done a few things in the last decade. I went from full-time musician (drummer) to construction worker. I needed a job with insurance after I got married. I dug holes for telephone poles and did aerial construction for about 4 years while I completed a degree in theology. Then with no formal training at all I applied and got offered a construction engineering job for a communications company. This is when most of my shoe happened. I then left that job to enter into full-time ministry. As soon as I finished my M.A. the school I graduated from offer me an adjunct position if I would continue and get a PhD so that's what I'm doing now. It works out well enough.

Nice, more engineers! All these posts about boots/suits, and things that might be too casual, and I realize how lucky I am to work in a bizcaz atmosphere.

I'm a Mechanical Engineer in the energy world (for lack of more detail). Hopefully passing the PE when I take it in October.

I just heard a rumor from a 'source' that there may or may not be a 2 for 250 seconds sale starting march 20-23.

These dark brown cordovan Dundees have transformed into such a beautiful color since working at removing the AE majority polish from them. I did a few more rounds with a cloth and some Reno last week, topped it off with some brushing. The creases on the right shoe have started off a little odd but c'est la vie I suppose.

I couple shots in the office:

I few by the window (overcast today so not direct sun):

Wow those are nice - I just ordered some reno and may take a stab at my shell Park's or Fifth's...I can not remember which they are..as upon quick inspection they seemed very dark and I want more of the beautiful burgundy color to shine through

Drat, one of you guys snagged the last chocolate Dalton in my size 9.5E)! I was really hoping to get my hands in that shoe . . . I guess at least my wallet will thank me.

Hello,

So, I sent my black AE Park Avenues in to be recrafted (and asked for the V-Tread Combination Soles). I got a call today from AE. AE said the shoes didn't make it through recrafting but they would be happy to provide me with a new pair. I can get the same thing (Black V-Tread Park Avenues) or something else (non-custom). I have a pair of black AE Polos, have walnut leather AE Player's Shoes, and am waiting on a pair of Carmina Semi Brogues in brown (that may or may not fit). Should I stick with Park Avenues? If so, in black or another color? Should I go for Walnut Strands? Other options?

I wear suits infrequently, dress pants 4 days a week, and jeans the rest of the time.

Let the ideas flow!

Joining in on the fun. Mechanical Engineer here as well, Rotating Equipment specifically, also in oil and gas. I actually o get wear safety boots 4 days out of 5 workdays so I only have 3 days out of the week to actually wear my shoes.

A brand-new pair?  Wow, that's amazing.  Did they say why the shoes didn't make it through?
