Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread - reviews, pictures, sizing, etc... - Page 2681

I was just informed a pair of Burgundy Shell Dundee seconds have become available in 10D.

All my shoes are:

9EE (Brown Shell Strands)

9EEE (Black Strands, Neumoks, Walnut Shell Daltons, Longbranch, Rothsays)

9.5EEE (Walnut Strands, Aberdeens)

I would say my best fitting shoes are my Longbranches in 9EEE.

Where would a 10D shell Dundee fit in here? Worth getting it and trying it? Or should I just wait till one comes around in one of my sizes?

Thanks!

I would say they run pretty true to size, I recently bought a few pairs myself.

Same last as the Longbranch so going up a full size in length may not be the best. If you are getting them for a good price ($299) I would say it's worth the $10 restocking fee to try them out, otherwise I would say wait it out.

My MTO Promontory Point boots. I posted these in the MTO thread, but it's relevant here at the moment.

Those are beautiful and the color looks nothing like the Rush Street picture AE posted for that color. Can not wait to see my Rush Streets in person. Have a feeling I wont be complaining. My LongBranch in Waxy Brown are way nicer in person than the sites picture- I have a feeling with the Rush St it will be opposite

This is one of the best makeups I've seen on this thread, period. I think if AE actually offered these they would sell like crazy, and maybe appeal more to a younger demographic of customers (not unlike myself). Bravo. Wear them well.

I totally agree, this for sure should be a boot that makes it to AE regular line for Fall 2014. I am kicking myself, like many others, for not having the vision to see what a beauty that boot could be and snagging a MTO at the $197 price while it was available.

I too am right around 9eee (have that size in 2 and 5 lasted shoes) and have recently found that I can also wear 10D without a problem. In fact, I almost prefer it to 9eee. Maybe it's my long toes, but it seems to work fine!

I feel the same way about GOP guys Macneils. Green with envy every time i see them. I am surprised some from AE didn't start an mto affiliate thread before mdubs did. Great idea btw dubs.

I'm not sure what last the Bayfield is on, but when we went to the AE store to figure out her size; we were originally going for the Dalton (1 last) and the SA recommended the 6D as well. I know it doesn't help with your 2 last question, but maybe relating to women's size may help. Good luck. My wife adores hers. Now the only problem is I have another pair of boots to maintain! haha

Also important to note is that you need to measure arch length as well to make sure the widest part of the feet hits the right spot in the shoe.  The toe length is not so critical because as you said the toebox is elongated.  I don't have a 2 last but have tried the San Marco in the past.

Thanks for the input tifosi and green garden. My wife wears an 8 in womens size. Based on this it looks like I should also consider 6.5D as 6D might end up being too small for her. If it ends up being too big, i guess she can always wear thicker socks and an insole. I'll probably ask Allison if I can modify the MTO specs to make it independence lining and poron insole, as I found that shoes with either of these specs tend to wear just a bit tighter on my foot.

I hope it works out as I definitely don't want my wife to get turned off by the MTO's final results. If she doesnt like it, there will be a 6.5D Chili Eagle County on ebay in a couple of weeks.

same here.. I too considered buckled shoes/monk straps (particularly double monk straps) to be super lame and thought that only effeminate goofsters wore double monks....that is, until I ordered the bourbon Mora 2.0...everyone ive worn the M2 around when I went on a dinner date or going out drinking has commented on how good they look...I thought it was just me who was awestruck by their appearance in person since theyre easily some of the classiest, most handsome shoes ive ever laid eyes on...i guess ill be going overboard on monks here soon since im working on getting the franciscan next coming up in april ...but consider me sold...

Oh my, and I thought my collection of 4 shell shoes was excessive... Do you find the AE shoe trees fill out the Barrie well? The alden shoe trees seem so different than the AE/woodlore, lower toe box, fatter heel. I see you opted for the carmina trees, which I have for my calf 80105s also. Is your ruby captoe the same pattern? On Simpson?

Anyone have or try the McAdam boot? Seems like a good deal on 2nds

Either theat or a Ridgeway or Strawfut. Pick 2!

Or will there actually be a 2 for $250 sale soon?

(...already have the McAllister in Burbon, Flatiron in Walnut, Larchmont in Chili, Killinworth in Brown, and 2 older styles in Black.)

Thanks for the input,

B.Ellis

Yeah, I like the AE shoe trees better than Alden ones because they fill out the toe area better. The Ruby shell captoes are the same pattern as yours on the Simpson last. The navy shell carminas are on the rain last. This is a little less than half of my shoes. I have three more Carminas and several more AE's and Aldens in a variety of calf and suede. I need to downsize and I'm finished buying shoes for a while.

Goodness, what an incredible collection! How many Movie stars did you have to perform weddings for to build it? wink.gif
