A new order is in the chute!

I needed to buy some new staple shoes in the 5-last but decided instead that I could wait a little bit longer until the next sale came around. Besides, I was really jonesing for something different this time rather than the usual dress oxfords. I had previously narrowed things down to either new chocolate Daltons or burgundy shell Cambridges.

I love my burgundy shell Daltons and decided in the end to get another boot; The surprise (to me!) is that instead of chocolate Daltons, the AE store manager whose judgement I trust was able to convince me to go with the Bourbons instead.

They should be a great contrast to my shell Daltons, much more so than the similarly dark chocolate, yet a little more versatile than the walnut which can appear at times to be screaming for attention.

This is the picture that sold me from my trusted AE advisor:

Wow, that Dublin leather really looks good.  Have you conditioned it yet or is that how it came?

Someday when I decide I can justify it, I'm going to have a pair of white suede Leeds made up with that exact sole. Great choice -- it looks fantastic with the cognac Dublin!

Envious. Seeing these makes me regret being so eager on my Rothsay MTO. I placed it before the red dainite was available, and by the time they were available Allison told me they've already started and could not change the soles anymore.

Is AE willing to put in dainite soles during recraft?

It's now making is trip across the pacific...

EDIT: deleted the other pics

Wondering if anyone here is interested in a lightly used pair of Sanfords? Size 13D, black, firsts quality. Fit isn't what I wanted. PM me.

My previous purchase were a pair of brown shell Jefferson's.  Starting to get  good shine out of them and always enjoy wearing them.

The rest of my collection so far includes:

Black Calf Park Avenue

Brown Calf Fifth Avenue

Chili Calf LaSalle

Walnut Calf Kenilworth (seconds)

In my furture:

Something in burgundy shell or merlot, maybe another pair of park avenues.

Glad I found this thread and that I starting buying quality shoes early on. I bought my first pair (brown fifth avenues) with my first bonus from my first job out of college.  The Rediscover America sale coincides perfectly with our annual bonus payout and a brick and mortar store happens to be a 1 block walk from my office.  I have added to my collection one pair a year until this year with the MTO Eagle County and the Kenilworth seconds.

Nice.  What's the spec on the Eagle County eyelets?

Anyone have any experience with AE pebble grain leathers?  Specifically the chili.   Are they made from corrected grain?

Posted a question on the MTO thread, but I think I should have posted it here since the question isn't really an MTO question but a sizing question.

I'm trying to get my wife a pair of Allen Edmonds boots, the Eagle County which is on the 2 last. She measures 6.5C on the brannock but unfortunately they don't have a that size in the 2-last. They do have a 6D though.

On a 2 lasted boot, would wearing a 6D vary that much with a 6.5C? The 2 last looks like it wears long on the toes so I don't think half a size smaller would create problems on the toe box. I'm thinking that this being a boot, the increase in width would not greatly impact or cause heel slippage. She will also primarily use this boot when we travel to cold countries so I assume she's wearing thick socks. I need someone with a clear head as I'm  drunk with the idea to get my wife some AE shoes so she will realize how good they are and she may even stop looking over my shoulder whenever i make shoe purchases hehe (probably not).

From what I understand pebbled grain shoes are just stamped leather. They can be full or corrected grain. The ones I have seen in person I think walnut grain looked like full grain.

Pretty sure they are willing to do it during a recraft.

I have a pair of suede Player's shoes that I need resoled, but with a rubber sole instead of the original leather one. I e-mailed AE and asked if I could get them resoled with Dainite soles, but that isn't one of the options (options are VIP rubber, V-tread rubber, Othello rubber, Toby mini-lug rubber). Has anyone done this before and any recommendations on which one to choose?

Thanks.
I'm sure you can ask them to replace with Dainite. I have a pair of Sanfords inbound from a recraft and I chose the v-tread option. Will post pics when I receive them.

Rather than sending them back to Allen Edmonds, I used B. Nelson in NYC and was very pleased.
Does B. Nelson charge extra for a change in type of sole. I figure it should be the same price, but I have read that they will charge $150+ for a change in the type of sole, but maybe that was with a welt change too.
