My first thought was that he took a secret shot of someone else's shoes :)

Thanks Half.  With all the shells that you have, would you say they will give in a bit after a few wears?

Yes, definitely.  They'll form the characteristic "rolls" soon enough.  I did ultimately have one pair stretched - that made a considerable difference.

Many on this thread subscribe to the "if it doesn't feel right when you first get it, don't keep it" school, but for me the decision is harder than that.  Sometimes I have to take a leap of faith.  With shell, though, at least there's some holding of value, such that if you decide to sell them later, you won't take as much of a hit as you would otherwise.

Love it.  My MacNeils are rapidly becoming my favorite shoes, although my Dundees won't give up the fight so easily.

My only complaint is they squeak. Hopefully they will quiet down as they break in

A few of you with Townleys always posts for "Townley Thursday", I am always jealous because I missed out on the Shell Townleys in my size... So, I am today doing Thomas Thursday, as is my brown shell Thomas Jeffersons... this morning in the sunlight.

As Jefferson said... "Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom." and those are honestly AWESOME.

Agreed.  They could be Exhibit A in the case of "Why Shoe Aficionados Love Shell."

There is nothing wrong with them. (Actually everything right)

Kudos on the koppage.  I think you're the only one to post a JAB seconds purchase this go-'round.

I have both the D width and B width sent and I leaning with keep the B width.  D width just has too much volumn while B width is a tad tight.  Wish they make them in C width.  I'm taking a leap of faith for sure, finally decided to jump on the shell bandwagon.

Does anyone know if there's a place in Toronto that can put in sunken metal toe-taps? The front of my shoes wear away fastest, and I don't want to use rubber ones.

Edit: And will AE still recraft my shoes if I've had sunken toe taps installed?

I've never tried them, but I have scoured the internet to find a reputable place in Toronto, and this one came to the top of my list. I have a couple of pairs that need resoling the next time I am downtown. I don't know whether or not they put in toe-taps, but they are probably a good bet.
