Media Hound: - (Noun)
~ idiomatic. A person who actively seeks public attention by participating in stunts that generate (negative) publicity.

A definition to shed light on what MH's motives truly are.
also: we can't force MH to shut the hell up, but we can drown him out to the point where his beat-to-death :deadhorse: gets overlooked. so, can we all collectively agree to POST THE HELL OUT OF SOME AE for the time being, until all of this nonsense fades into the background?
I am pretty sure most people reading this would appreciate it if you would piss off.

can't someone ban MH for being an inconsiderate asshole?

ps please pardon my French, but if the shoe fits...

These are just a few very recent posts, out of many, over the past week that are far ruder, more inappropriate, abusive and, in a couple cases, potentially ban-worthy than anything MediaHound posted. I am very impressed that he has kept his tongue and his demeanor in the face of such rudeness. There are many people on this thread who have acted in a very ungentlemanlike manner, and if they had any class, would apologize to him.

I just noticed a small tear on my Townleys. It's not too obvious visually, but I'm curious if it'll be a structural problem in the future. Do y'all think it will be able to tear past the stitching?

[In the interest of moving on...]

I contacted Brian in Woodmere and got this response:

Great customer service, as usual. I'll let you know what they conclude.

Here are some before and after pictures of my AE 5th Aves regarding edge dressing. In a previous post I had asked for advice on fixing a splotchy edge dressing on the natural edge after about a years wear. I was afraid to apply new over the existing, so I sanded them down. I found that 600 grit paper clogged quickly and wasn't very effective. I used some 150 grit paper being careful not to nick the uppers. It took a little time but came out pretty good. I used Chili edge dressing to get the final look. What do you think?

Heel Before:
400

Heel After:
400

Side by Side Before/After:
400

Final Result:
400

Edge Dressing Application: I forgot to mention that I masked the shoe prior to applying the edge dressing. It saved me when the dressing came out pretty quickly one time and got on the tape instead of the shoe. However, I didn't use the painter tape as I was out, and the masking tape I used took off some of the color when I removed it after about 10-15 minutes. I was severely PO'ed to say the least. However, I applied some conditioner/cleaner and brushed like crazy and they got close to the way they were. Man that would have really sucked to have a nice edge on a screwed up shoe. I would recommend not using tape, not sure on the painter tape, but just be careful and blot the edge dobber on a newspaper first then hold the shoe with the uppers facing up in case you do get a run. Also, do it in the garage or over newspaper as I almost dripped on the carpet.

I must admit I did just this, although after reading about the suede chukkas I ended up passing. I did end up with a killer deal on some Townleys though.
Yeah I know you did. And I for one am very glad to have you aboard! Just gets my dander up that someone else that USED to post here but hasn't in more like a year or more refuses to admit what started all this uproar and that price was a driving factor. Or the value he received. And all he can say is huh? Actually he has said enough and so have I. Guess he can make his own facts up, oh well. Being a 9.5 on the Barrie and 10 on most other lasts I try to hit the Alden thread several times a day for the latest PSA and get in on the preorder before my size is gone. Which I have had very little luck with on the few Aldens that I want.

AE does have a lot more shell shoes too you know. Although I doubt it took you long to figure that out :) It has been awhile since there has been updates to the AE shell cordovan offers but keep an eye out on here too. I wish you much success in your shell hunt good sir.

Thank you. I hear you on checking for preorders constantly although that whole process has gone by the wayside as of lately.

I have looked at their other shells offerings, I just wish they had some more boot options. I know they can do it, those 721ltd that they made up for Wolverine were a great pair that I really regret passing on.

Wow! Gorgeous! Was it decided that is *Dark* Brown shell?
My thought is yes they are AE Dark Brown. Only had full sun for a short period Saturday when I took pictures of mine with the CXL Bayfields. Need to dig some of the others out in the sun to compare but my current thought with indoor lighting at least is Dark Brown. But interesting darker highlights than other Dark Brown shell that I own which is the Dundee, Patriot and custom Leeds.

Left to Right is Dark Brown, #449 or Dark Cognac, truffle and walnut. They most certainly are closest to Dark Brown from this picture.
