This is precisely what I'm experiencing with my new Brooks PAs that I got during the current sale. They fit and feel fine, but there is slight heel slippage. I'm wondering if this will go away as the shoes break in. I'm thinking it will, since a) the soles will soften up and become more flexible, and b) the Poron insoles will conform to my feet, and my feet will sink in a bit. At least in theory.

Any thoughts?

I have purchased the Brooks Brothers versions of Park Avenue (black), MacNeil (chili pebble), and Strand (black, brown, walnut). I bought the Park Avenue in 9.5E and had no heel slipping, just a little wide and putting in a thin insole helps with that. The Strand shoes and MacNeil from Brooks Brothers are all 9.5D and all fit nicely from the get-go. I do not recall any problem with the heel slipping. From the get-go, the Poron insoles have felt comfortable to me. It may be that my feet have imprinted into them but the shoes pretty much feel the same to me as when I got them. Based on my experience, I cannot say whether ones feet sink into the Brooks Brothers shoes or not. As you break them in, the shoe will flex more and that MAY help you reduce or eliminate the heel slippage. Good luck!  I find shoe fitting to be stressful also.

I just got some pics from the AE outlet. The Black Shell PA that I ordered have a small crease on the captoe and the shell is pitted all over the cap. I'm not sure if I want them or not. Could I fill in the pits with some wax polish? I'm leaning toward not getting them and instead ordering a MTO Black shell Harrison. I wear black shoes about twice a month.

Quick question - can AE do an MTO on their golf shoes with "regular" soles?  I am looking for a Spectator and I like the Heritage styling better than the Broadstreet.

They can. In fact, this was just posted 25 hours ago:

Can anyone tell me the difference between the Leeds and Rapid City? Are they the same shoe with different leathers or no?

These came in last night.  Ordered the Walnut Strand as per advice, and I love them.  The shoebank had them for 199 and I felt like these were a steal.  Couldn't try on a size beforehand but luckily they were a perfect fit (and a half size smaller than I usually get...I've always sized up because of my larger right foot but these broke in and were comfortable very quickly.)

I'm just afraid to wear them out now :-(.  I'm assuming I should apply some edge dressing before wearing them too much, and would a neutral wax polish protect the shell of the shoe better?  I was never told very much about maintenance aside from using shoe trees.  (Picked some up at JAB's website for 8.50/pair...bought some other stuff to reach the 75$ free shipping...couldn't say no to a 25$ merino wool sweater, 8$ shoe care box w/ horsehair brush, 10$ tie bar, 6$ merino wool socks.  Seems to be a pretty decent sale atm.)

Is there anything else I should do i.e. waterproofing, and what type of edge dressing should I use on these? O.o

you shouldn't have to do anything prior to wearing them. Edge dressing would only be if you scuff the welt.

I don't think you can hide it with wax since it's shell.

Yeah Ryden, I have the Rapid City's; I think the leather and the eyelets are the only difference...

So if I were doing an MTO and selecting the leather and eyelets they would be the same?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Wurger seems to think differently, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to fill the holes in with was.

Yeah, I just took a look, the only other thing is piping. Leeds have piping, Rapid City's don't. So I guess if one's on sale you can get a discount on the MTO

Yes on the MTO I am doing the rapid city is like $75 less but it seems like they are identical so I guess I should call it rapid city for this MTO
