Would love to buy it immediately if somebody had it in stock, but I'll go MTO on it if necessary.

Thank you for your help!

You could try the Alden Tassel Loafer on the Aberdeen Last. There are several vendors that have it in Brown Suede. Your option with AE would be MTO.

I don't own patriot loafers soncant help on that. That said I an compare it with last 5 and last 2 shoes.

I'll let you know in a week or two. I did a navy suede Grayson MTO last December and I hope they ship soon.

If they turn out well, I'm thinking of doing a snuff suede as well.

I ended up buying a pair of brown Cliftons as my first AE couple weeks ago, after lurking and appreciating the shoes in this thread.  I liked them so much that now despite my limited budget I have two more pairs of AEs in the mail.  So I'd like to offer a combined thanks/admonishment for all of you unrepentant enablers.

A question:  Would anyone who owns the walnut Rutledge care to let me know what you use to polish it?  The color is significantly different from standard AE walnut, and it is burnished, so I'm not quite convinced that walnut polish is the way to go.

These are my first AE shoes, it only had to sacrifice $30, and I know they have a recrafting service. The heels are worn as well as the sole (which still had plenty of life left). But one puzzling part was one of the soles, the stitching was missing. I wanted to know if this was a normal thing? I'll point it out below.

This is what I was talking about. On the right side, the stitching is missing? Normal wear and tear piece? Time to replace soles?

Yes. Perhaps the previous owner walked on the lateral side of his foot. I'd send them for complete recrafting.

Wow those look great!!! They look like they were brand new in the before shot.  I'd love to see some more pictures throughout the whole process

What a terrific way to turn the chicken sh!t that was those "grey cloud" PAs (a serious AE misfire IMO) into some very tasty-looking chicken salad.  Have you ever used that spray-on stuff before?  How durable is it, how well does it take a polish, etc.?

You people are monsters, by the way. :)

I don't need to have shoes made, and I probably don't need snuff suede Carlyles on dainite soles -- but I want 'em.

I only ever use neutral shoe cream, and I'm moving towards using neutral wax for shine, and then a little bit of Kiwi to cover scuffs. I use brown on my tan shoes, because I figured a little extra burnishing never killed anybody. Also, my goal is to have a slightly bulled toe cap, so scuffs there end up mostly in the wax.

To anyone who got the price list for the Feb 3 Seconds Sale, could you please post the sale price on the Allen Edmonds MacNeil shoes in Black Custom Calf?

On Monday over the phone I ordered two pairs (Brown Kenilworth in 9.0D and Brooks Brother MacNeil in Black Pebble in 9.5D, each pair was around $149). When I got the receipt in my email, it said both were in 9.0D. I called the outlet immediately to correct the mistake before shipping and the clerk was really nice and said she'd take care of it and change the 9.0D to 9.5D.

On Friday, I received the Allen Edmonds version of the MacNeil in black custom calf instead of the Brooks Brothers version (pebble grain leather, half rubber sole, Poron insole) and was quite surprised. I already have the Brooks Bros Chili MacNeil and it fits great. Luckily, the Allen Edmonds version in black seems to fit very nicely too in the same size. I think I got lucky here in that I got the Allen Edmonds version for the Brooks Brothers price ($149), and I am just curious what the Allen Edmonds version would sell for during the Feb 3 sale.

When ordering over the phone from the Outlets, has anyone else ever received a different shoe than they ordered?

While I was really wanting the Brooks Brothers version, I like the Allen Edmonds and I am thinking that perhaps I will like them even better. Comparing the Allen Edmonds black custom calf to the Brooks Brothers chili pebble, it appears that the materials and constructing of the Allen Edmonds version may be upgraded. I think I got lucky here.

I disagree.  I have the same wear pattern.  If I sent mine in every time they looked like this I'd be recrafting every 3 months.

I think it's $199, but I wouldn't worry too much about the price differentiation since both BB and AE offer the same quality. At least that's what I was told.

I'm looking at the inventory report with current sale prices; it is $245.65 for black custom calf.  The OP isn't worried; he wanted confirmation that he benefitted in some measure from the outlet's mistake (which he did).

Thanks guys!

Another oddity (in my favor) was the Allen Edmonds MacNeil in black custom calf I received also included two red shoe bags. I have purchased 9 pairs of seconds from Allen Edmonds Outlets (returning 2 pairs and keeping 7--all during the last 6 months) and this is the first time my seconds purchase included shoe bags.

I'm happy with my purchase. I would have also been happy to get the Brooks Brothers black pebbled version as I knew I already liked the chili version from a previous purchase.

It's all good.
