I have been on the forums for 6 months and the upcoming 2 for 250 is going to be the third one I witness, so I really don't know where you've been.

Last 2 for $250 was around August 1.

They may have done that around Black Friday. I know that ON Black Friday, closeouts were $99

  • Higher quality leather uppers ("extra aged calfskin").
  • More finishing work on the soles, which more closely resembles the higher-end shoes.
  • Higher quality heel, being more akin to a dovetail.
  • Cushioned sock-liners
  • Soft lamb skin lining
  • Thicker outsole (not a double sole, but an extra iron in thickness)
  • Wheeled welt

Given the choice to get an Independence line shoe at less than a regular line one, I'd probably jump at it assuming you like the style in question.  The only difference in the actual design between the McAllister and the Jefferson is that the Jefferson doesn't have any broguing along the top-line of the shoe.  Rather, the broguing on the Jefferson stops at the top of the facings next to the eyelets.

Haha sall good and thanks for the info, MWS. The last sentence was pretty much what I was looking for. I didn't notice that the Jefferson didn't have the broguing along the top line of the show even though I was comparing both for like 30 min yest.

I love the Townley but got into the shoe game too late to grab a pair, I would have loved a pair of 8.5D in cordovan. I think they are an amazing looking shoe.

Does anybody have a picture by picture comparison between the Jefferson and the Macallister? What type of upper is AE using in the Independence Day line that is also comparable to other shoemakers?

just placed an order for a brown parkway and a brown shell Norwich, pending review by Shirley at the shoe bank to make sure they don't have any severe defects.

For those with experience on the 2 and 8 last, how similar are they? I know everyone says the 2 last is tough to fit but the AE site says the two are similar and my best fitting shoes are on the 8 last.

thanks guys

That sucks, I luckily never got a bill when buying from Allen Edmonds (also in Canada), guess I'm just lucky...

Why aren't the Hamptons shown more love?  Every shoe shouldn't look the same; shouldn't there be some style differences? Chiseled toes and  varied wingtips are one way to bring some variety without completely redesigning a shoe.  I actually think the toe on this shoe is sweet - different, yes - but a welcome change from cap toe and short wing styles.

The first shots I can really see of the shoe, actually. Thoughts?
