I cannot for the life of me get anything resembling a shine on my brown shell patriots.  I have VSC, Saphir Renovateur, Leather Defender, and AE's cordovan polish.  No matter what I do, it creates a flat, dull shine.  I've tried the mac method. I've stripped off what I believe is all the polish to the point the sides of the shoes visibly look 'dry'.  I'd appreciate any insights.

I also have a pair of Cambridges which I have almost no problem getting a high shine out of.

You are not the first to have a pair of shell that just doesn't want to shine. The paste wax mentioned might be worth a try, you don't need Aden wax unless your trying to match #8. And even then most people used to use just good old fashioned Kiwi which would be fine. Not sure about the wax bringing about a fix that will last though. AE can refinish them and get a shine out of them, at least one person on here has done that. Saphir brown cordovan cream\wax may be able to help too. Good luck!

So for $12.95 amazon offers a deer bone. 1 review mentioned it was used for shell cordovan so I ordered it. Might need some sanding to get nice and smooth, but i'm ok with that.

If anyone has extensive knowledge of this, is there any major differences between orgering a randome deer bone like this above and the one they have on hanger project for 3x the cost?

I should be getting it in the next couple days... will let you all know how i make out.

Interested to see how it works for you. From what I have read in the past it is supposed to be the shin bone from an English Red Stag. Something about the oils in them helps. I would think a whitetail bone which is what the Amazon one is would do about the same as a warm spoon.

If it works let me know, I can come up with a supply of them. About a week ago purchased my first DSLR camera and shooting as much as I can in preparation for a week long trip in the BWCA for a week starting 7 days from now. I have plenty of targets of opportunity right out my living room window.

They are working in high gear and trying to get to everyone's orders/requests/etc as fast as possible.. It was mentioned that email is being considered lowest priority over phone calls/orders.  I think they said they are more than 400 emails behind (I'm pretty sure he said 400).

As one would expect, please be patient as they are doing EVERYTHING they can do fulfill all requests in a timely manner.

FYI -- yesterday, he was putting in orders until 10:30PM (and they close at 7PM) ... today he has been in since 7am and will be lucky to leave before 7PM. And apparently some people have been doing quite some bickering about their 'customer service' and not what they expect and blah blah blah.... Please give them a break!

Maybe they should modernize this absurd 2nds ordering process and use a web interface instead of using emails and phone calls. Wait, that would be crazy -- it's only 2014.

To be fair, I think the 2nds sales are really meant to be an in-store type of sale. They are obviously doing phone orders so they can sell a lot more shoes, but I don't think the outlet stores are meant to be an online operation.

I got the list I requested a couple of days after I sent the email. No big deal to me. I was surprised to see that there are no Franciscans on the list though. As one of the featured sale shoes, I thought they might have tons of inventory. Maybe they are just that popular and sold out by the time I got the list.

Just got off the horn with Vincenzo to order the 14AA burgundy shell Graysons that've been on every seconds list I've requested for the last three years. He was going to confirm stock and call me back (no time period specified -- but forget later this evening, I'd be happy to hear from him by the end of the week).

I cannot think of another company that provides a high quality product at such a fair price with service this personal. Here's hoping they've got profit-sharing or a nice bonus in play for 2014--

...well, in the middle of my post he called me back. New tassel loafers for me by the end of the week. These folks are really something. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Well thank you very much for all the help guys...I really appreciate it!  I'll find a place to make sure I get the right size soon.  It looks like the Strands are the way to go!  (first ;-)).

You can alway order a few different pairs in different sizes from their website to get sizing figured out. I believe I read on this site that AE highly recommends this for those who do not have a store near by.

Agree that Strands are the way to go.  Personally I'd go with them in bourbon instead of walnut.  Don't get me wrong - walnut is an outstanding color and I own a pair of Strands in walnut.  But I feel the bourbon is a more versatile color.

Interesting. So they did stretch sufficiently for you two? Did you end up with the same size as calfskin Strands?

Sorry for the late reply. Here's how close the lacing gap of my suede Strand is after wearing them three times a week (M W F) in the office the past month:

Do you receive e-mail confirmation when placing an order through the shoe bank? I ordered from one of the other shoe banks which placed the order, and did not receive an e-mail confirmation.

You'll get it when they bill your card

Yeahh, that was the case with the large number emails when I spoke with Jean on Friday. I was glad I called to place my order.

Bam. These things are BUTTER...soft. Beautiful. The girl in my office was drooling over them.  What are you people complaining about?!?!? GIVE THEM A BREAK AT SHOEBANK!!!

Now...cant wait to see what everybody else got... lurker%5B1%5D.gif  It's the little victories.

Sweet shoes man. Which ones are those?

Also, my walnut cloud PAs from the seconds sale came in. Besides the right captoe being darker, I'm happy with these and gonna keep them. I'll have to wait for walnut strands again!

Officially giving up on a other MTO. 5 emails and 4 voicemails to Allison over the last 3 weeks and nothing returned. Normally I get good service but this is not one of those times. Will put my money somewhere else for the time being. Sorry for the venting...

Nice score!!!! They look awesome.  I have a pair still in the box, waiting for a good occasion (and weather) to let them see the sun the first time.

Are they also shipped with trees?

Those are the rutledge on the 3 last, they are a bit wider comparing to 5 last IMO.

Those cloud PAs look great.  You'll break them in and the gap should close up someone once the footbed is settled.  How wide are these?

I called and spoke to Allison last Friday (mid afternoon EST), luck of the draw i guess.  I also got an reply to her after a day wait.

Good luck in case you decide to give her one last chance, given the amount of good deeds she's built up in this forum these past few years.
