Has anyone received a reply from the shoe bank requesting a shell list?

With the recent upcharge in shell prices for first-quality shoes, I wouldn't be surprised to see second-quality shells to charge $349 from $299 during AE's semi-annual sales.

This settles it, I'm definitely going through with my Eagle County MTO. Allison told me in December that she would honor the sale price for me in January, well I have one day left! Just sent her an email to see if I can.

Any design ideas from you all? I want it to be a true dress boot. Either burgundy or chili.

I'd love to see it in burgundy.

I hate this thread. I said I was going to be ok with two shoes now I just ordered my third. And I can see myself ordering more in the coming months. shog[1].gif

They will be sanded either way, so new and smooth is ideal because it can't be soiled. Presumably if a grease/oil stain is deep enough, simple sanding wouldn't go deep enough to remove it.

That said, I think we're in agreement that you shouldn't feel it's too late to Topy once you wear them out of the house.

I almost bought one until I read this:

Based on inventory availability, this product is limited to the colors and supply onhand. Colors shipped will vary.

I wouldn't really want a black one.

I'm looking to get a PTB since that's a "gap" in my lineup and thinking of pulling the trigger during this sale for the shell Leeds. I deally, I'd want a brown shell PTB, but maybe the burgundy worls in the same situations? The alternative is a brown shell Norwich. In some ways I think of a single monk as a PTB with a buckle instead of laces.

I'd be wearing them in business casual (wool dress pants, chinos) and casually with jeans.

Thanks!

You can't have too much burgundy shell (I have Kenilworths, Patriots, and Daltons), but I would consider going with brown for you next one just as a change of pace. My first shell (Townleys) were brown, and I think my next purchase will be, as well.

I purchased a new 100% horsehair brush for my shell Macneils.  I had an AE brush that was pretty new, but defective (hair EVERYWHERE during brushing).  I started using the new brush and it's almost as if it dulls/scratches the leather.  What's the deal?

I've recently found that I could get a very good "glaze" or shine on my AE shells by applying some Saphir Cordovan Cream and letting it sit 5-10 minutes before brushing. I don't even buff with a cloth since it seems to ruin the shine. I think Renovateur and Ventian Shoe Cream work the same for shell, but I have the best results with the Saphir cordovan cream.

I had the same problem with a new AE brush looking like it was scratching shell, even though it felt softer than an older brush. I'll soon be doing an experiment with Renovateur, Venetian Shoe Cream (donated by random-adam), Saphir Cordovan Cream (donated by Cold Iron), and AE Cordovan Cream (also donated by Cold Iron). I'll be sure to post back with my results.

Keep in mind that a new brush is supposed to lose some hair, but it shouldn't look like it needs Rogaine.

I e-mailed them for a list in my size yesterday morning and have not heard back yet.  They usually get back to me the same day.  They must be very busy.

Thanks.

I was notified via a personal email message from the last SA who helped me in store.  I can't remember if I signed up for something different from the usual mailing list (I think not).

Never...

Here is the Burgundy Shell I am sporting today, my Shell Franciscans. After I posted my shoe photo earlier this week with Lincoln in the background I have decided I will try to have him in all of the shoe pictures taken in my office. :)

I have emailed twice in the past 2 days, and have not got a list yet. I am sure they are swamped. A couple of weeks ago I did get a list from Vincenzo right after they announced the February Shell sale, but there wasn't much on there I was interested in. So I am hoping a new list will have a couple of new additions...
