If anyone is interested in some Snuff suede Strands, there are a bunch of sizes on Amazon for $233. First quality too.

Well damn.  Do they ever put their belts on clearance?  I'm guessing no... i've been debating on getting that walnut belt for about a week now but I think my girlfriend would beat me to death with one of her stilettos if she found out I paid $100 for a belt.

Would that be a red soled stilletto?

Dear Sirs,

So Allison said that my MTO Brown Cordovan Bayfields didn't make the final cut and I'm considering to change it to an MTO Brown Cordovan Promontory Point instead.

What do you think of this change?

Can anyone comment on the sizing difference between the 1 (511) last, which the Bayfield is on, and the 8 (678) last which the Promontory point is on?

My search for other shoes on the 678 last only yielded orthotics models thus far.

Those Promontory Point look so outstanding it is almost enough to make me order them, what beautiful boots! I don't know how they would fit me and I suffer from fear of unknown lasts, although AE lasts as a rule fit me better than Alden.

The Bayfield's in Cappuccino shell fit me best of all my Bayfields. Ironically the boot to the left is an actual Naval boot with steel toes, government issue. I keep balking at the Alden Naval boot due to the last they are on and it doesn't fit me well. Because of the differences in feet between all of us it is really hard to tell what is going to work even with AE lasts. Once I know if the 8 last fits me I will finally pick up a pair of MacNeils in burgundy shell, I have wanted a pair so long it is beyond belief that I don't own a pair.

Out of the 3 variations of the Bayfield's that I have

The Bayfield's in Cappuccino shell with no poron insole fit me best. But I like them all, a lot. The Bayfield is my favorite boot that I own.

Good luck, it is what ever you feel fits into your rotation and style but more importantly if you can try them on fits you the best. Tough decision...

This returned out F'ing amazing... I can't wait to get mine. Mine did not pass inspection, so I must wait a little longer now. My make up is exactly the same as yours (or should I say yours was exactly the same as mine). Though after it failed inspection, I asked Allison to make a couple of changes. I had her change it to an independence lining and change the top eyelet to a speedhook. I love the extra burnishing!!! That turned out great, I am glad I requested it. Now I really want mine. Enjoy. I'd love to see some pics of them in the wild.

use these boots for almost anything but the worst snow. They clean up beautifully. Below are two shots so you can see how much wear they get and how they clean up

Good pix.  Did you bake them with Obenaufs?

The sidewalks here are coated in rock salt. I'm scared of wearing my leather soled shoes and boots. However, I have a question about topys. Is it better to apply them to soles that are new and smooth? Or, should they be worn? Does it matter?

I'm glad you posted this . I was just going to ask, as the weather (in NYC, Wisconsin, and Utah) has been really giving mine a beating.

How often do you give them the complete treatment and what do you use? Do you then reapply HDLP? Or does it need to be stripped off before reapplication?

Thanks!

Are the combination soles on AE Brooks Bros. shoes any thicker than the standard leather soles?

New and smooth. My cobbler specifically pointed out that if you accidentally stepped in oil or grease it could make the topy not stick as well. That said, it's not the end of the world if you wore them some before deciding.
