I didn''t.

I realized there were more pressing needs and decided to ration my funds to other sources. My plan was to do an all calf leather, chili colored makeup with a butyl sole.

All colors? How many pairs of strands do you plan to purchase? The AE game is certainly dangerous.

I still think that would look great. I almost did that instead of my Golden Chromexcel Eagle County.

Allison will do contrast stitching in basically any color you want, from what I could tell. I went with "khaki".

Edit: Nevermind. I forgot the Portland was on the 333 last. That elongated toe looks odd to me in this design. Not something Dr. Jones would wear.

yeah... someone bought the portlands and posted pics. The toe was waaaaay longer than it should be.

Shame--I was looking forward to seeing them, as I have weeks of anticipation to endure (enjoy?).  Were I to live in LA (or L.A. for that matter) I would probably go the same direction with all chili calf.  I think I'll opt for cognac Dublin, skip the brass eyelets, and add three rows of speed hooks.

Someone's botched MTO Shaker Heights are on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-ALLEN-EDMONDS-SHAKER-HEIGHTS-PLAIN-TOE-BOOT-9-D-MEDIUM-395-/360824105842?pt=US_Men_s_Shoes&hash=item5402caeb72.

They're absolutely hideous (no offense intended to anyone here who might have ordered them), but they hint at the possibilities of an all-leather Shaker.

A couple of people have gone down in length and up in width. (Based on much much research on sizing advice in this thread) I can't speak to the Dalton's specifically as it seems the boots have other fitment aspects vs shoes.

Leeds are on the 1 last.

This is incorrect. Leeds is on the 1-511 last, same as the Dalton and Long Branch.

As the guys above have noted, it is on the 1 last. I have a pair of McAllisters in an 8.5D that are a bit too long for me, I should have went to an 8E or 8D in the 5 last so hoping the 8.5D in the 1 last might work.

I seem to have a low instep and narrow heel, but also fairy wide at the toes.

I wouldn't even know how to describe these boots to Allison.

"I think I want to replace the tweed with leather, but not just any leather...leather scored with a checkerboard pattern."

Maybe a costume item for "Boardwalk Empire"?

"Run it through the waffle iron for 10 minutes, then make the shoe."

Woah, I was totally off. Deleted my post, I think I mistook the 511 last for the 5 last. Stupid number scheme.

So Allison said that my MTO Brown Cordovan Bayfields didn't make the final cut and I'm considering to change it to an MTO Brown Cordovan Promontory Point instead.

Can anyone comment on the sizing difference between the 1-last, which the bayfield is on, and the 8-last (678) which the Promontory point is on?

Second, is that black denim? I like how it looks with the walnut... what did you pair with your denim and those lovely walnut Daltons .. if you don't mind me asking

It's actually dark blue denim from uniqlo in slim straight.  To me slim dark denim unwashed/aged/faded works well for "smart casual" that fits in with the vibe of this particular boot. I'm not sure if you're asking what else I wore on top - I want to say button down slate oxford with a chunky shawl cardigan.  Can't remember if I was wearing a knit tie at the time.

Thanks for the compliments - I'm really happy with it and hope the rest of you are able to either get the MTO on that or make your promontory MTO.  One of the other folks should have gotten their Eagle County today if memory serves correct. Can't wait to see them.

Someone also asked if they could take off a cap toe and leave a boot plain toe.  I would bet the farm they can't/won't do that.  If I had a farm to bet.
