Was this confirmed, or just speculation so far? Also, just Closeouts and a few select pairs (including possibly all BB/RL), right?

OK, how's this for a possible MTO:

Start with Portland boot, currently on sale for $297 . . .

Swap out bourbon calf for natural CXL a la the Clark Street . . .

And the result is basically a natural CXL Alden Indy (or NST aka Tanker to be precise) boot for about half of what it would otherwise cost:

(subject to other Allison-type enhancements such as stitching, sole, lining, etc.)

Thoughts?

My thought is if you can get Allison to stitch them like the Indy's, I'm in with you. However, I would be surprised if this were possible.

Edit: Nevermind. I forgot the Portland was on the 333 last. That elongated toe looks odd to me in this design. Not something Dr. Jones would wear.

Do you mean just the contrast stitching, or something else?

I meant the contrast stitching on the toe.

Being that the Leeds is built on the same last as the Dalton would they size about the same?

I found an 8D in the Dalton quite narrow so I am possibly moving to an 8.5D or 8E and wondering how I should size the Leeds.

Sorry to bump the old posts, but...

I agree. That's sort of what I was thinking with my Shaker Heights MTO, substituting leather for the tweed.

What makeup did you eventually go with?

They also don't make the shaker heights in black. I have three tweed blazers that I wear pretty regularly through the winter. The brown ones would be nice for a pairing methinks but $$$.

Spending money on having jackets altered for now. Heh.

Sherman Bros is still selling black Shaker Heights (albeit at full price).  If you're still interested, you can have black ones MTO for $277.

My Leeds (shell) are roomier than than the Daltons and Long Branches I've tried on in the same size.

Deleted as I was totally wrong.

Anyone have experience with the Black Hills? I see they're on sale next week and think they might fit the bill for a more general (mature) shoe for jeans and button ups without having to drop to full casual.
