Then effectively you and I are in the same boat. My advice would be to try both and decide which shoes deserve L vs. XL, in the same way that I use both S and M. So if you can't mix and match, I would suggest you get 3 S and 3 M for $50 plus tax and shipping.

As for width, you can just think of it as a tiny bit bigger. So picture an 11E as effectively an 11.1 or somesuch; bigger than 11D, but not as big as 11.5D.

Now if we start talking about EEE or AAA, I really couldn't tell you for sure.

It's not the same since it's shorter but it's a similar plain cap toe boot. I have an MTO on the way for this one and was offered it at the clearance price.

How exactly do you go about doing this?  Calling and just ordering that particular shoe to be made to your liking?  I like this one, wouldn't mind getting in on it if I can get it at the clearance price.

When AE put their Eagle County on clearance it was $197.  If you're a member here they will waive the custom order fee.  So boom $197 for a first quality boot that originally looked like this:

I like mine better.  Thanks for the props, gentlemen.

Ahh ok I see from this post.  So uh *clears throat*  who do I call to make this happen?

Man I'm really regretting not ordering the Eagle County MTO.  Anyone know how it fits compared to the 5 last?  I'm an 8D in Park Aves, what would I need to order in the Eagle County?

So let's just say for the sake of saying that I wanted to get these

They're on clearance, and I wanted them to have a sole that looked more similar to this

Or at least a lighter like sole closer to them, possible?  If so I may go broke soon

Hard to say for sure. I wear an 8.5D Strand (with wide V) and 9D Dalton. I tried on the 8.5E and 9D based on Allison's recommendation, and went with the former.

Is it possible to do the Mto for those amazing boots (eagle county) In black?

So to sum it up - I used my imagination after figuring out what was available to me.  Once you commit to the order you can't cancel it, so I couldn't tolerate the idea of choosing a bunch of things I thought may look good but didn't really understand/was able to visualize.

Great stuff. You really used your internet talents.

It is.  They actually made a black version of the Eagle County from the get go, but any calf color you would be able to see on their site as long as they have in stock can be done, generally.  I was going to do merlot but it was too close in shade to my chocolate daltons so I went for something different.  I think someone else did merlot or similar and really want to see that.

I have the Daltons in 8D and my Eagle County was made in 8D (this does not seem to be the norm for other people).  They fit great, though I was worried at first given it's a narrower and longer last.  The Dalton last actually seemed to have a lower instep, which was more a limiting factor than the width of the last for me on the Eagle County.  Allison sent me a trial shoe in the same last, and I would guess she'd do the same for you.

Her email is ameyer@allenedmonds.com   It's been posted here enough where I think it's ok to repost it.  She is incredible, though she is the only one who services these so understandably sometimes it can take a day or so for her to get back to you.

Thanks - I went so far as to photoshop a mock up.  But I've got a problem.

Thank you gents, appreciate it.  I have her information so I will see if the sale is still available.

Need Help / Advice on Promontory Point:nest:

Thanks.  I was actually jonesing for a Wolverine 1K Krause a bit back, and I'm really excited by the knowledge that I can put in an MTO on the Promontory Point.

I'll call Allison tomorrow.  Tonight, however, I need some help regarding size and makeup.

Sizing: the AE reviews all complain about the boot being small and narrow, but AE's (and RandomAdam's) description of the last make it sound roomy.  What gives?  I'm an 11E in most lasts (can't wear the skinnies--222 and 333) but want to wear a light-to-midweight boot sock with these.  Per an earlier post of mine, I have sent or will soon send back Long Branches in 10.5EEE, 11E, and 11.5 D because none can accommodate the sock comfortably.  (The 11E fits best and would be perfect with a dress sock).  It doesn't appear that they make this last in a EE.  Any advice?

Makeup: I like yours, NWTeal, but will pass on the suede back.  What Chromexcel colors were available, and was there an up charge?  I'd like a burgundy or chili (if possible) and a mini-lug sole.  I'm up for recommendations on welting, stitching, etc.

Thanks!

Black and Brown at first, but now Natural and Golden Brown are also available. I was not charged extra.
