Howdy all,

I have a few questions about the AE seconds sale that's going to be happening in Feb. First off, is the sale only at the factory shoe bank location, or should I be contacting all 8 AE outlet stores for their inventory. I also don't want to unduly bother the nice sales associates, does anyone know if it's better for them if I inquire about specific models or just ask after specific sizes? I'm specifically interested in shell cordovan boots and maybe shoes. Have people had better luck with phone calls or e-mails? Would it be best to ask after inventory now, or wait until Feb 2, the day before the sale starts? My thanks in advance for your replies.

I have 5 young preachers in the church here and this coming year for Christmas I've already told my wife I'm going to take them all to the AE store and purchase them a pair of shoes of their choice. One of them just recently purchased a pair from the Shoe Bank.

I went to the Interlochen Camp in the Summer of 1998 and auditioned for the academy at the end of camp. I stayed on for my senior year of High School and graduated in 1999. Small world indeed!

I was there summer of 97, so I just missed you.

My idea of a nice shoe in those days were my Birkenstocks.

1) no not the only sale at Shoe Bank, but Feb and Aug are nice sales

2) do not call all locations; any outlet/etc can pull the full list .. Shoe Bank is the best to call / email directly (shoebank@allenedmonds.com).

3) When requesting the list, it is best to request specific sizes (eg. I ask for 8 - 8.5 D)

4) Call is always good, too.. at the Shoe Bank, Vincenzo/Phil/Julie should be able to take good care of you

5) Request as soon as possible, because as some of us know (and take advantage of), they will pull the shoes we are interested and hold them for the sale.. best to get your request in.

I find the recommendation to be accurate. I wear 8.5D and 9D, which correspond to S and M, but both sized shoes fit me the same so are effectively the same size (regardless of the number written on the last). I buy both S and M, and instead of strictly conforming to their requirements I put the bigger trees in any shoes that fit a little tight, in case it helps mildly stretch the shoe. That said, I haven't found that doing so makes much of a difference, so I wouldn't be too concerned about an XL ruining the fit of your shoes.

Long story short, their sizing is accurate, but if you're on the border you can go either way. If you have shoes you desperately don't want to stretch, you could consider using a L instead of XL, but I wouldn't be too concerned.

Keep in mind the larger tree will do a better job resisting creases since it'll apply a little more pressure.

So, you spent $75 on shoe trees...to save, what, $8 shipping? ....NICE!!! Buy lots of shoes to put them in!!!

Just ordered a few myself, hoping that I have the dinero to acquire shoes to put them in... Thanks for the heads up. It looks like these are closer to the AE trees, with formed toe vs. the adjustable combo kind.

Shoe trees are like socks. Assuming you'll stick around this forum, you'll eventually use them all. Like most of us here, it only starts with one pair.

Dang, kentyman, I'm an 11.5... This concerns me, because some of the lasts are longer (5) and I wear an 11 in some shoes.  My question is, I'm an E width, so does the same '11.5 rule' apply for XL's in E width?

Gotcha. Just having a little fun witcha... I buy trees with every purchase - not a day goes by that a new shoe sits in my house un-treed!   AE folks are obsessive, of which I am one.

BTW, allow me to re-introduce myself...my name is:

Larchmont (bourbon)

Strand (Walnut)

Mcallister (bourbon and merlot = double points)

Franciscan (Merlot)

Neumok (Olive)

Dalton (walnut)

Long Branch (Grey)

That's just AE though. I'm no POLOJOCK... but I manage. (he's my hero)

...I feel like i'm missing something; I reserve the right to edit post after inventory this evening!!!

Darkside - are you shopping next week? we wear the same size; we have to coordinate so we don't steal each others' shoes!!!  It's a team effort... :fistbump:

Am I the first to post pics of his MTO Eagle County?  Here they are off foot and in service (did not take any top down shots - I think it makes legs look like trunks and feet like little stubs).  My first MTO and I love it.

Specs:

Eagle County MTO

2066 Walnut Calf

Brass Eyelets, 3 Speed Hooks

Dark Brown Contrast Stitching

Independence Lining and Insole

Black Split Reverse Welt

Toby Mini Lug

Brown Transparent Edge Dressing

I placed the order mid December and they arrived today.  And all for $197.  I'll be waiting to see everyone else's.

Holy crap.  It doesn't even look like the same boot.  I am seriously envious.
