For comparison's sake . . . from left to right:  brown shell Strand, brown shell Dundee, burgundy shell Dundee.  Is it just me, or does the brown Dundee (a) not look that much like the brown Strand, and (b) actually look more burgundy than the burgundy Dundee?  Anyone else have the brown Dundee and, if so, have they noticed this as well?

Are you sure you didn't reverse the brown and burgundy Dundee's?

lol, I just thought the same thing. Could it have something to do with the fact that the burgundy and brown are next to each other? I am definitely noticing some red tones in the brown dundee, but it could be some kind of reflection trick.

It's possible I'm wrong, but to me it seems like black polish would make your shoes appear black.

black wax polish will not make your shoes black, although it will tend to make them look darker over time.

I expected someone would ask this  . . . 100% sure.  You're proving my point!

It's definitely not a reflection trick.  I'm not disappointed - I figure once the patina starts to develop, there will be more of a color separation.  Plus, I do have the truffle aka cappuccino shell Dundees, which are decidedly differently shaded than the brown and burgundy.  (Can you tell I'm a fan of the Dundees?)

It is -45 where you are and all you are wearing is pants and socks. I would be so bundled up that you would barely be able to tell I was human.

if brown shell is consistently like this (with the burgundy shades), that makes it all the more desirable in my opinion.

as bad as -45c sounds you can get used to it after a few months of it, and no cold is that bad if you know you've got a place to warm up once you get to where you are going. I find the biggest help is to keep moving. I lived in a place that was consistently that cold or colder for several months a year and after my first winter I rarely wore a coat.

Nice shoes btw, very unique!

Great looking shoes.  I have the same pair, (though I am wearing my walnut Strands today).  Do you find that you get any notable creasing on the vamp with them?  I've only had mine a couple months now and they seem to be creasing a reasonable amount right behind the tips of the toe cap.  They have shoe trees in them whenever they are not on my feet.

Lots of love here for the Long Branch and Dundees, but none for their lovechild, the Bellevue.  Reviews on AE complain of too much room at the instep (which is a big plus for me), but I'm wondering why otherwise this boot missed the mark and is being discontinued so early.

Theories:

(1) $295 was a bad price point, implying that it is (was) inferior to most of the lineup.

(2) The "Othello" sole (which probably accounts for the lower price) lacks the style cred of a dainite sole (or even a mini-lug sole).

(3) It's neither fish nor fowl, lacking the elegance of the Dundee or the assertiveness of the LB.

These points notwithstanding, It seems to be a uniquely practical option for inclement weather.

Here you go these are one of the first pair made, great choice BTW! My Dundees all fit extremely well and don't have much in the way of rolls in them.

Congrats!! My brown Dundee's are closer to the cappuccino ones than the burgundy ones. However I have the Patriot in both brown and burgundy and shell and honestly it is hard to tell the difference in them. I also like the variations that AE shell has, some is very unique IMO.

I have some noticeable creasing on my right shoe. I attribute this to the fact that my right foot is just a bit smaller than my left and the McAllisters are just a tad roomier than the Strand as a whole. Shoes will crease more when there is less volume taken up by your foot. Sure, I wish the right shoe had minimal creasing like the left, but it doesn't really bother me. If I wanted to fix this issue, I'd certainly have to go bespoke and that just isn't happening anytime soon.

Got a call from Allison this morning that my MTO bourbon Eagle County is shipping today.  Should receive it this week.  Will post pics when they arrive!
